    Howdy!

I try to avoid buying BLEEDING EDGE products to use with my pc.

    A Store had a sale price I couldn't refuse for a 128GB SanDisk Ultra
USB 3.0 Flash Drive, $20.00 US.

I plugged it in a USB 2.0 slot on my XP pc but nothing showed up in
    Windows Explorer.

Later I tried plugging it in a Vista pc and it worked.
I guess my XP pc is too old to cut the mustard on this new fangled
    stuff.

    Will I ever learn? .......

Maybe your disk is partition in ETP you must use this
procedure for make visible to Xp:

    1) run cmd prompth on menu start xp
    2) from prompth od cmd launch command DISKPART
    3) select disk / number disk (example selectdisk 2 )
    4) CLEAN
    5) from manage h.d. look ad new disk and use command Create New Partition
assign new letter if it has no one , and then format.

    6) now you must have disk D:

Excuse me for my English but is many and many years that I don't

I thought most USB 3.0 -ready flash drives were supposed to be
backward compatible. Does it say so on the packaging? If not,
that might explain why it's only $20; some companies offload
electronics that don't meet original spec.

Yes, on the back of the carton it says Backward Compatible with
    USB 2.0 .

I plugged it in the XP pc again and after about 30 seconds I saw
the HDD LED was on so I waited and the Thumbdrive came up in

    Howdy! Luciano,

I suppose You already seen my Reply to August.

After sending the .REP packet the message was in I noticed I forgot
to say something about SanDisk had some software called:
    SecureAccess in the thumbdrive.

I read one of the .PDF files and it said it installs on Windows
O/S's of Vista on up to 10 and also on MAC 10.6 O/S on up.

It did install on the Vista pc I plugged it in but didn't do it on
the XP pc. To Me XP isn't Old Technology.
I push the power button and it still comes on.

The problem wasn't about the USB Stick using ETP, it was about Me
    and My Patience. <GRIN>

I didn't have any trouble reading Your post, no apology needed.
I've been guilty of misspelling words and causing the readers to
wonder what I was writing about.
And English is my native language.
[The first time I heard a Tape playback of my voice I found out
that I didn't sound like the TV Newscaster do, which I thought
    I did. TV Newscasters don't have a Accent - like I Do. ]

I have to confess that I keep a copy of Word Web running so I can
try to keep from misspelling a word OR also I use WW to find out
what a strange (to me) word in a message means.

I'm not Mister Know-It-All, I just act like it sometimes.
And You already know that if You've been reading My BBS Posts very
    long.

I love getting information via any and all BBS message.

I have gotten lots of help from Others and sometimes I can be of

    Howdy! Again, Luciano,

Another thing I forgot to say when I answered August earlier is
another MAIN REASON I bought the USB 3.0 Flash Drive was because
    its size- 128GB.

    THAT'S B-I-G!!!!!!!

128GB is over half the size of storage that this XP pc came with.
It had a 250GB HDD when I got it, but I've replaced the HDD with
    a 2TB HDD.

I have a USB 3.0 64GB that warns me that "this device can run
faster on another port" or something like that. When that
happens, the fallback speed is at USB 1.1 levels or something.
    Often a retry and a re-insertion kick-starts the USB 2.0
    speeds.

I never have built a computer from the ground up.
I only have done Memory and HDD upgrades.

I really had to scratch Ed's Head [TM] some time back when I had to

XP was down for 1 Month that time.

I did brag about how I repaired the broken plastic Power Button

Is there a lot of talk action on the radio waves? Once, I had

I haven't been on the airways for ages.
My Wife asked me to remove the unsightly wires coming out of one
room upstairs and going into the dropdown attic staircase.
My Radio Room eith the High Frequency (80 through 10 Meter) gear
is in the basement, so I COULD turn a radio on and listen on it by
sticking a piece of wire in the antenna socket.
    BUT
I don't go downstairs anymore except to get something out of the
    chest freezer.

I did have a Very High Frequency (2 Meter) radio in the computer
room but it began to change the Frequency on its own while I was
    using it.
I sent it to a Factory Repair Shop in Texas but it couldn't be
repaired so I told the man to keep it, and He said that it would
    go into His JUNQUE Pile.

I had always used seperate Transmitters (TX) and Receivers (RX)
on AM (Voice) and CW (Code), but when I was able to buy a SSB
(Single Sideband) Transceiver the price doubled from US $350.00
to US $700.00 and I had to wait almost 3 years before my wife
    felt I could buy it.

My thoughts is the Price INCREASE was due to unlicensed people
buying Yesau FT-101 SSB Transceivers which still had a position on
the Band Switch for the old Amateur 11 Meter Band and was using the
radio illegally .... the CB sidebanders ....

I still will not buy any Radio made by that company.
The SSB Transceiver I did buy was a Kenwood TS-520S, it doesn't
have 11 Meters on its Band Switch, just the Amateur Radio: 80, 40,
    20, 15 and 10 Meter Bands.

The Citizens Band Radio Service started I think started September
1958, I got my Novice License in June 1958 just a few months
    earlier.

When I served in the U.S. Military I was a Radioman.
While I was still in the Radio School I went to town to visit the
F.C.C. Office and take and pass Commercial Test for a Second Class
Code and Second Class Voice License(s).

    But we digress..

No we ain't, these kind of conversations are what make BBS's
enjoyable (to Me, and Probably Other readers too).
