The default settings in ctrl/msgs.ini can be seen here: https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/blob/master/ctrl/msgs.ini
Compare against your msgs.ini file.
One other thing is that I have these errors when I use the
check setup door:
Synchronet Check Setup v1.19
Invoking: check_sysop
Invoking: check_guest
Invoking: check_user_names
Invoking: check_user_passwords
Invoking: check_qnet_tags
Invoking: check_fido_origlines
Invoking: check_bbs_list
Invoking: check_syncdata
Invoking: check_imsg_list
Invoking: check_dove_net
DOVE-Net: 23 sub-boards configured (instead of the expected: 21)
That's a stale check. Thanks for alerting me (so the expected should probably be 22 in that case). I think you're seeing 23 because you
don't have the access requirement of the SYNCDATA sub-board configured
as suggested/default: https://wiki.synchro.net/network:dove-net
Invoking: check_sub_cfgs

I can't seem to find a way of reconciling the actual 23 message bases (including now the SYNCDATA base which previously was apparently hidden) with the expected 21. The sockopts_ini error is a mystery.
I don't see any sockopt_ini error. The issue being reported is just the one with the DOVE-Net subs.
Is this an instance where I need to run "scfg -f -a" ?
No.
I know these questions are probably answered in the documentation somewhere but I sometimes get frustrated sifting through online docs. I'm one of those Neanderthals who like having a physical book in my hands. One of these days I'm gonna print out that Sychronet documentation! ;)
That documentation changes rapidly, so anything you print will likely
be stale pretty quickly.
Should this be moved to the Synchronet Sysops area, do you think?
Yeah, but this is fine.
