  • SMTP Relay Question

    When I first started the board a few months ago, i included the relay through DM offers. Nothing has changed in my setup, still have mail.synchro.net and credentials set as my QWK info. But I had a user send me Email today i am getting error messages in my mail server window.

    Error 10061 connecting to SMTP server: 127.0.0.1

    I dont have anything on my system pointing to any address in the 127 range. my system is based on 192. I have even looked in ini files for a reference to 127 and there is nothing there.

    My router has the relevant ports routed to my board including SMTP, POP, TLS, Submission etc.

    Any ideas on what could be making it point to 127 ranges?

    you know that's local loopback addres, right?

    i saw things get screwed up with that after taking out av software that
    really messed with the internal network settings. just go in there (sbbsctrl various server settings)
    and make things are setup correctly. post screenshots of your settings
    if you have questions.

    That's your loopback (aka "localhost") address.

    Maybe mail.synchro.net is resolving to that address for you? I had an Internet outage for about 6 hours last night, maybe it's related.

    That makes perfect sense.

    I was experience quite a few annomalies that day including dyndns failing as well as issues with binkp polls not resolving. I also think ATT was having DNS issues which just makes everything come into the light.
