I get that from him. His country was ruined, he's adapted to it, and
now he wants everyone else to experience what he experienced. It's a
form of jealousy.
I don't think so. I believe it's a form of narcissmism. Here me out.
I've encountered many people over my years that made mistakes in their lives. But rather than admit that they made a mistake and atone for it, they want YOU to make the same mistakes that they did.
I wondered for a long time as to "why?" Normal people would warn others. "Don't do that. I did that and regretted it." But these types of people actively want others to make the same mistakes that they did.
I finally realized that it's a form of narcissism. These people can't admit that they made a mistake. Then if they get you to make the same mistake their decision is validated as "the right thing" because "that happens to everyone."
Sometimes these people can get really out there.
There was a couple (let's call them Bill and Veronica) who my wife and I were friends with before we were married. After we were married, Veronica was pushing my wife and I do to things that would be considered unfaithful to each other.
Come to find out that Veronica had made those mistakes in her past, with the expected poor results. When we confronted her about this, she tried to justify her past actions and continued to push us.
Needless to say, the friendship ended.
... I may have settled in shipping.
