• Free social welfare

From Mike Powell@1:2320/105 to BJöRN FELTEN on Sun Aug 18 09:03:00 2024
Here's the problem... The Democrats believe its free if they use tax
    payers money to fund it.

Yep, that is what I was getting at. ;)

Obviously not Democrats, but it might surprise you if I tell you that here in commie-infested Sweden, we pay nothing, zero, of our tax money on our superior social welfare.

Probably one of the reasons Bernie Sanders so often talk about Sweden as an
    example. He knows...

    Who does pay for it?

    The employers.

    LOL. Wait for it...

Then you still don't pay anything. DUH!

    The employers.

What if you don't have an employer?

    LOL. Wait for it...

Then you still don't pay anything. DUH!

    The internet says:

"The Swedish health care system is mainly government-funded, universal for all citizens and decentralized, although private health care also exists. The health care system in Sweden is financed primarily through *taxes* levied by county councils and municipalities.

"By 2015 the cost of health and medical care had risen to 11.9% of GDP -the highest in Europe. Seventy-one percent of health care is funded through local taxation and county councils have the right to collect income tax. The state finances the bulk of health care costs, with the patient paying a small
nominal fee for examination. The state pays for approximately 97% of medical costs."

So you pay some for examinations, and you pay all of your prescription
costs until a limit kicks in, afterwhich the government picks it up by
    using *tax money*.

The internet also tells me that corporations must pay a percentage of the sick employee's wage while they are off sick, but only for the first 14 days, afterwhich the government pays the percentage... again, out of *tax money*.

The internet also tells me that the Swedish government takes about half of
each *employee's* paycheck in *taxes* which are used to support the government health care system, child care system, and education system. For more than
40 years, Sweden has had some of the highest taxes in the world in order to
    pay for these things.

So, do I believe the internet (where I can read the sources that are
cited), or do I believe Bjorn, who provides no sources?

    Nothing is free.

The internet is a network, just like Fidonet. It doesn't say shit. Maybe you are thinking of the WWW?

Anyway, the sources you are using are wrong on so many points, I'll not even try to correct all of them. I suggest that you ask Grok for a more accurate answer to any question you may have.

I am guessing that Grok is some sort of AI?

The places (plural) I found my info included plenty of links to reputable sources... no FOX News, no OAN, no right wing/conservative think tanks...
and I trust those sources over a Bjorn or any source that Bjorn might
suggest, unless I have heard of it and believe it to be reputable.

Nothing is free... well unless you are a Swede who does not work and has no income. Then it sounds like it is "free."

You haven't even heard about her? Figurs.

The places (plural) I found my info included plenty of links to reputable sources... no FOX News, no OAN, no right wing/conservative think tanks...

But as usual, without any links. Yeah, figurs, that too.

and I trust those sources over a Bjorn or any source that Bjorn might suggest, unless I have heard of it and believe it to be reputable.

So you don't think that this imaginary Bjorn person of yours knows what he is paying for? But you know, after a couple of minutes with Google? Don't you know how much you pay? Dunning-Kruger, for sure.

It's funny you should mention that. I'm not working. I retired more than ten years ago and am now living on my very generous pension, which I know very well (DUH!) and haven't paid a single cent for. So yeah, it's free. Thanks for finally admitting to it.
