let me quickly introduce myself. New here (or back again, used to run a node until 2004 or so). German, married to a Ukrainian lady, lived in Kyiv for ten years. You can imagine my opinion about Vlad in general :).
I am sure he is a very nice man. But I would also advise folks
to stay away from windows in tall buildings when greeting him.
But he was speaking Russian, so you never know... :)
I was watching the news and they made the same comment as me... That it
looked like Vlad didn't have dementia...
Therefor, I must be right... it was on mainstream media!!!
I speak fluent Russian and can confirm that dementia is not the issue with Putin. What he says is plain and clear Russian, is coherent and has its own
twisted inner logic.
As he demonstrated to Tucker Carlson in a televised interview,
his command of gesticulating with his hands is also quite good.
Almost as good as Benito Mussolini, the greatest statesman of
his time.
The "old-man" issue with Putin is that he lives in a fact-free world
that is based on Tsarist imperialistic narratives and his appreciation of reality is overshadowed by the desire for revenge for personal humiliations he suffered as a youngster. The brightest mind does not help if it does not work based on facts.
Alternative facts are far more important than reality. Always have
been. Did NASA really land a man on the Moon, and return him safely
back to Earth? Or was it really a pipe dream, envisioned by JFK
when he made a speech at Rice University in Houston, Texas in order
to win votes for the next presidential election?
Put more simply, his history lesson was a whole load of bullshit.
Oh, come now. He says what he means and he means what he says.
His special military operation went exactly as planned, and all
the parties involved got what they truly deserved.
But he does not suffer from dementia, he is just a much-too-mighty evil sad
old geezer.
Please do not be fooled by that propaganda.
Vlad is still a young man in his prime at age 71.
His elders know better than to cross hairs with him.
Donald Trump took one look at him in Helsinki and
then after discussing a few things in private with
him decided to walk away without ever saying a word.
And Joe Biden decided not to talk to Vlad at all,
knowing the only answer he would get from him
was "Nyet!"
And he would definitely nuke the U.S.
In 1945 the USA was the only country in the world that had the
capability to nuke other countries. And yet, only two cities in
Japan were chosen to get wiped off the face of this planet.
So what makes you think that Vlad would have any want or intent
to nuke the US, or any city in the US?
if he knew he could do so without the risk of nukes flying back at him.
Japan had no nukes in 1945. Japan still has no nukes today.
Emperor Hirohito said he later regretted renouncing his claim
of being a god, as he knew the Japanese people would have
fought to the last man, woman and child - even with no weapons
of any kind - in defense of their holy god.
It is like two different cultures.
Kipling was right. East is east, west
is west, and never the 'twain shall meet.
No matter who would be the next president.
