I moved from from 64Bit to 32Bit... and then moved the BBS from a regular machine to a VM... and from what I can tell things are working... EXCEPT my dovenet is not sending and receiving via QWK...

    ideas??

I'm not 100% sure, but one thing that I forgot was to make sure zip.exe & unzip.exe were in place. I don't use ZIP on any of my FTNs so they were just working, but DOVE-Net wasn't working for some reason. Once I put zip.exe & unzip.exe in place it just started working.

If you do have them in place, maybe make sure you don't have the 64bit windows .exe's now that you're running 32bit windows?

Again, not 100% sure what the issue is, but worth looking at.

You can get unzip.exe here: ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/sys%24sysdevice/infozip/pub/infozip/win32/unz600dn.zip

    And zip.exe here: ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/sys%24sysdevice/infozip/pub/infozip/win32/zip300xn.zip

It looks like unzip.exe needs some .dll files (included in the archive) present in the same directory (or path) for it to function.

Hi there... I did an upgrade from A46 to A48. From what I can tell I did what was asked of me... I have found something... When I'm in the ANSI editor and I have completed what I was doing.... and I go to press "Q" to quit it hangs up on me.
I access the BBS setup as a menu option while I'm logged into the BBS

    Hello IB Joe!

On 09 Jul 2022, IB Joe said the following...
I can Add All or Remove All.... but I cannot toggle individual areas on
    or off...

I also noticed that -- however, as a workaround, it is possible to launch the (I)ndexed Message Reader from the message menu, switching to viewing all areas (Ctrl+V followed by A), and subscribing (Ctrl+S) and unsubscribing (Ctrl+U) to the ones you want.

    Best regards
    Bj”rn

I know that I mentioned this once before and I'm not sure not sure if what is/will become of it...

I have a few message Groups... Local/Fido/Usenet just to mention a few. Years ago I recall reading that JAM message base responds slower if there are large numbers of files in the directory, message base files.

I don't recall why that was, if it was hardware or software limitations based on that time or whatever... So, I separate my message groups into different directories /msg/dovenet /msg/fido/ and so on..

If Mystic auto creates a message base and I change where Mystic sees the message base it'll copy over the files from where Mystic auto created them to where I made the changes...

Here you go.... If I ignore things for a while and there are a large number of areas and I try to uses the Global option... and I make the changes I want to have for several areas... It'll change the directory but not copy over the JAM files from the old directory to the new one like Mystic does when I do them one at a time.

Oooooh, BTW... I forget what it was that I was doing. I was messing with the message base setup and all my area setup for FidoNET only vanished .... I didn't back it up so I'm left with Mystic auto creating the areas as they come in. Mystic is not using, or back filling, any of the newly vacant area numbers that were left open from my FidoNET purge...

I have enough on my mind, midterm elections, war in Ukraine, gas prices, inflation and what not. Now I'm focused on the fact that Mystic is not using the newly vacant area numbers.

    Great Job... I love Mystic

I have double checked, and re-cheched my setup. I have an issue... When I am on the BBS posting an ANSI file manually to a message it posts perfectly like it should...

BUT... When I try to post the same file with mutil in an auto post it gets screwed up... It looks like Mystic is auto wrapping the lines that exceed the 80 columns...
I thought I was able to do it before... I see others doing it... WHY!!! can't I do it... my next 2 messages will show you my problem

It looks like when you post via mutil it's not adding "[ANSI]" to the subject line, so maybe mystic is either not detecting that it's an ANSI or
it's processing it differently than when you upload it via the BBS.

After actually looking at mutil.ini, it seems the stanza is called "[PostTextFiles]" and mentions nothing about ANSI. Also, whatsnew.txt doesn't mention anything regarding this stanza and posting ANSI files either. It may be possible it doesn't support doing that just yet, or was never intended to?

Maybe others that actually use that stanza can chime in on this, though, as I see a lot of ANSI posts from other Mystic systems.

I haven't tried to post an ansi with mutil for a long time.

If I remember right mutil only posts the first 79 or 80 columbs of text and anything longer than that would simply be discarded. I found that to be the case with any text or ansi file. I always made sure that text was preformatted to fit in that before posting with mutil.

It's been a very long time since I used mutil, I don't know if that is still the case today or not.
