Depending on your target system you can grab a recent version of rar from..
https://rarlab.com/download.htm
Or if you just want to decompress rar files grab the unrar executables
or source from..
https://rarlabs.com/rar_add.htm
On my slackware box I just extract the source to a temporary
directory, change to that directory and run "make" followed by "sudo
make install" and I am good to go.
Did you have enabled the "non-free" repository of debian? ;)
https://packages.debian.org/buster/rar
Thanks for the tips! At the end of the day I have managed to open it
using the xarchiver package.
I am using unrar-free to unpack them. Any hints on what could be the cause?
