Thats a good question.
I would need an M1/M2 hardware to make a native version, so for now one does not exist for Mystic. I did receive a Netmail from someone
offering to help me with M1 Mac access but I haven't had a chance to follow up with them yet.
The new Macs have something called Rosetta which will allow Intel Mac applications to run on the M processors. Its possible the Mystic macOS Intel version could work using that, but I haven't heard of anyone
trying it yet.
Speaking from experience, the problem with running Mystic from any Mac
is that door games won't run.
I couldn't even get the built-in BlackJack to work.
And most of the good door games run in DOS. I suppose a workaround
would be to use the game servers out there...

Hello Byte,
That's odd. the BlackJack game is not a door, it is a script that Mystic runs itself. Do you see any error messages when you try to run it.
Yes, the game servers would work. Isn't it amazing the number and variety of truly great doors that were written in '95ish, that we are still running today?
Can you run doors with source that were designed to run on linux? apam wrote a
couple of doors (recently) called Galactic Dynasty and For Honour (like but not
the same as L.O.R.D.). Both are InterBBS capable and run nicely here.
I am not concerned with needing to run the door games from the Mac itself.
I main;y utilize a game server, or if need be a local 'game server'

Gotcha. You also probably won't be able to run many of the modern BBS mods out there like from Phenom Productions.
You may be correct on some of that, yes. Most of the mods I had running on
my Mystic BBS before were self-coded in mpl. Some of theme the idea came
from Phenom or other type scripts/mods. I just made different versions of them in mpl for my BBS. I did this often, since many of them only were written to support 80x25, and I wanted all menus/scripts to support 132x36 also. So I had everything detecting and using the right screen size.

That's cool! What BBS did you run and what kind of Mac did you run it on?
Soo... I am not sure which BBS package I will end up going with now. :(
that but also says I have no new messages every time. So I can no longer download packets at all.

You can set your download message date for your QWK it should be on the menu, unless 20 beers removed it for some reason.
Quick question: Are you downloading by FTP or from the BBS? I forgot
to ask that. The FTP engine is "new" from 2010 or so, and the BBS one
is from 1997 ( different code unfortunately).

You've reported a bug about 3 days ago, and one which no one has
reported ever in 20+ years. If your reaction is to throw in the towel
in a couple days after you find a bug, you're probably best not using
any BBS lol
I am downloading via the BBS, not with FTP. 20 For doesn't have a date set in the QWK menu. I am trying to leave it 'broken' so paulie can see what is doing the next time I can catch him when we are both on the BBS.
Paulie runs maintenance very night at midnight, and that doesn't seem to mess up these last read pointers. However, my best guess at the moment
is it seems almost weekly. I am not sure if there is some maintenance
This was Mystic on Linux at the time. I haven't run it on MacOS yet. But
I think I should be able to make most of everything I had working on Mac
as well. I guess maybe I shall find out. However, I may have to look a different direction if I cannot help figure out what causes Mystic's
QWK mail handling to be so poor. Three Mystic BBS's I've tried to rely solely on QWK packets for all message handling have failed. After about
a week or so on each, Mystic loses my last read pointers and I then have thousands of new messsages again. This time, on 20 For Beers, it did that but also says I have no new messages every time. So I can no longer
download packets at all.
Soo... I am not sure which BBS package I will end up going with now. :(
Lets hope its a weekly thing for him and we'll see it fixed in the new one!

plausible and was what I was already suspecting was going on. I shall see what happens over this next week or two on 20forbeers and see if it doesn't happen again in about the same amount of time.

Any thoughts of using Hermes II? I know it's old but I've got the unreleased 3.5.11 version up and running via TCP and it seems to be pretty stable in OS9. Same issue with the door games though - I can
only get two to work (Leech and Blackjack Pro). Not sure, but maybe
there would be a way to connect to the game servers using a Python external or if you're handy with THINK Pascal...

I don't know what his upgrade timeline is so it may happen again because he hasn't upgraded yet. I know he wanted to experiment with that build before upgrading because it has some data file changes.
I am not sure if he implemented the new build or not yet. It did happen again after this Sunday night. So it is happening on whatever BBS maintenance he is running weekly. Maybe he will chime in to this
