College may be "amateur status" for the players, but like the pro
sports, it brings in "big bucks" for the school or organization.
You better believe it! And while the football program at Marshall
brings in the bucks (ticket sales, tv time, etc) they are always
crying about how poor they are, etc.
I read somewhere that college football coaches are among the
highest paid people in the country. Often times the highest paid
people in half the states.
Thank goodness many medical facilities have a "financial hardship
program".
Thankfully the few times I've had to use the ER (an accident or
injury, not just a hang nail like some) I pay cash and the bills are
about half what the insurance companies would charge and far less
then what I would had to pay each month for insurance, which runs in
the upper hundreds and thousands. Of course I have no medical issues
or anything.
I also paid cash for all my dental work.
