I've heard Doctor Pepper described as "carbonated prune juice".
That's a new one to me.... :)
To me Dr Pepper tastes like cough medicine.
Probably it's because of the bit of cherry flavor in it... There's also
a bit of cream flavor and similar to cola flavor.... but I've never
thought it tasted like prunes.... I'd guess that it would have more to
do with the results....
Around here, Arby's been Coke products as far back as I remember....
I guess it all depends on the franchisee.
For years Marshall only sold Pepsi products, then Pepsi lost the
contract and Coke took over.
People would boo and hiss others drinking the "wrong" product, how
bad it was, etc.
Then the other company got the contract and suddenly it was good and
the old one was bad. :)
I do prefer the Coke products to the Pepsi ones, all things being
equal... But they aren't all that dissimilar.... And some people are
more fickle than others... ;)
Also, since it's Lent now, most fast food places that normally
don't have fish sandwiches, are serving them...to pick up the
Catholic customers.
Or to keep them... :)
The way I heard it, a franchisee noticed the drop in customers on
Fridays' and started selling fish, during Lent, and business picked
back up. Eventually corporate saw the steady base and agreed to sell
fish company wide year round, not just during Lent. But fish is
heavily advertised during Lent.
That might have happened.... at least with some franchisee or other...
And I'll agree that fish IS heavily advertised during Lent.... After
all, it is somewhat of a seasonal thing, and advertisers LOVE seasonal
things to advertise.... ;)
I always find it a bit amusing that St. Patrick's Day often (if not
maybe always?) falls during Lent... and that doesn't stop people from
having the "necessary" corned beef for the day.... :)
