Hello All.

I'm running MakeNL 3.5.0 for OS/2. With the FORsesubmit 1 verb, it seems to have a limit on how old the segment files can be to be included in the submission.

Does anyone know the actual age limitation on the stored segment files?

Or am I missing some other verb?

By default MakeNL goes back 7 weeks from the next publish day when searching for a segment in the masters directory. If your segments are older than that, copy the most recent one to your mailer inbound. MakeNL will detect the segment in the inbound directory and consider it a new update.

... etc ...

Depends on the version of makenl and depends on the configuration.

Or am I missing some other verb?

Don't know. My crystal ball is on vacation. ;-)

It all depends on ones point of view. I have looked at the code and the
debug logs. But for now lets say, there is a bug in the code, that is
masked in 8.3 filename systems. It could verywell be that the bug would also
be apparent if makenl was a real windows application.

So indeed, from my point of view, your option only works if makenl runs in
DOS or or a DOSbox. If DOS and DOSbox are the norm in Fidonet, then my view
is indeed an exeption.

Ward understands this very well, about how every so often, someone comes
around and proclaims that Linux is the magical cure for all problems... just because its Linux. I respect people who run it, but they do not respect that it does not run here, it does not "work" for my needs. DOS/Windows does.

You cannot politely explain to such people the difference between the way a wildcard-file function works on DOS versus Linux and how that potentially affects how a nodelist is processed.

No particular reason, other than I deal with a lot of Linux fans.

I started out in DOS in the pre-Windows days. I currently run Linux. I do so because Linux meets my needs. I do have a couple Windows 2003 server box's because they serve a useful purpose too. As I see it the bottom line is to use what works best for you to accomplish the necessary tasks required.
