• Tone and Attitude here

From Tim Schattkowsky@2:2/29 to All on Thu Feb 27 18:28:12 2025
    Hello All,

I am active in many communities. In most of them, there is a lot of apprication for people why actively contribute and share their thoughts. In almost all of them people are nice with each other while discussing different opinions.

Here, the person with (apperently) the most posts seems to be constantly insulting people up to the level of accusing persons of beating their wife. I think this is completely unacceptable and would recommend considering legal action. This space is still part of the civilized world.

We used to have moderators to keep such people off the echos.

Also, for people who work at universities, I might mention that we have high standards for proper academic behavior. Thankfully, all universities have bodies to investigate staff members who have issues conforming to the minimum standards.

    Regards,
    Tim

insulting people up to the level of accusing persons of beating their wife.

That's an offensive question, but it's not an accusation (it's a US trope you may not be familiar with?):

That's nice. I have similar experiences.

That is an aggravating person, for sure. Hardly a case for legal
    action, though.

We used to have moderators to keep such people off the echos.

That's basically not possible any more. You didn't know that?

Also, for people who work at universities, I might mention that we have high standards for proper academic behavior. Thankfully, all

    This isn't a university. It's Fidonet.

You seem like quite a tender little thing. Maybe this isn't your gig.

... And now, a brief pause while everyone says "Who cares?"

There are a few bad apples that like to make sure their voice is heard
over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

Some find it impossible to posting without having an insult or a dig at
someone else, and given the ripe old age of some of the competitors,
you can imagine how many years this has had to build up.

Some thing mature with age, some just get rotten.

For me it was a clear implication that he did it before.

You might have to be an American of a certain age to be familiar with that saying, but it does not in fact imply that the subject of the question has ever in beat their wife (if they even have a wife). It's used as a purposefully obviously-loaded response to a less-obvious loaded question.
