'Bout time a woman got the job!

UN elects first female tech agency secretary-general.
And by a massive, truly massive majority.
139 out of the 172 votes.

    Imagine that.
    139 countries voted for her.
    That is incredible.

This is the same UN agency that sets global standards for telecoms
    and tech infrastructure.

Of course, there is no other UN agency that does that.

But that is beside the point.

The fact is, she is a WOMAN! And she was chosen to do what has
always been considered to be a MAN'S job!

The first woman to lead the 157-year-old UN agency.
    Or however old it is.

Now if only she can bring Africans up to speed, as only some 40%
of them have access to the Internet, compared to Europe, which has
    89%.

    For Life,
    Lee

ITU does not decide upon the standards ... it just follows the technology developed by corporations, writes it down and calls it a standard.

You probably have never heard of IMO which "does" have a leading role in shipping. How about the ICAO?

Maybe her real name is Bill ?

Where did you get that ridiculous number? It is way way less, the digital divide in Africa is a horror ...
