Anyone ever think of making a new Fidonet style nodelist viewer door? As far as I know EZSoft NODEVIEW door cannot be registered any longer. And it's "display" screen is ugly and can't be changed unlike the rest of the menu (go figure?). Anyways, just wondering if anyone thought about writing one?

I run one over here that was done by Bill Dykstra. It does require a
fossil driver, and the configuration data file only allows for 10
nodelists. If you have more, you need a separate instance of the door.
The door itself is freeware...and the filename is NODEVIEW.ZIP -- it's
in the FIDONet programs and files area on my BBS. The file is only
15.2k in size...not overly fancy, but it gets the job done.

I think you can get that via anonymous FTP to tbolt.synchro.net or
    via a Guest Logon...just search for NODEVIEW.ZIP -- I'm running it
    under Windows 10 32-bit.

Tried ... wasn't unable to connect to your site on the web or via FTP
... telnet just keep on "ringing" ....:( I'll try later one, maybe
    you lost connection or power.

The BBS was down earlier today (Wednesday) for a line of thunderstorms
that was approaching and moved though the area. Then, after I got the
computer back up, I forgot to re-start the BBS <BLUSH!>.

    T.J.,

I acutally just found it on one of my shareware cd's. Thanks for the tip, nice and clean. Love it. I didn't notice an option to be able to run it locally though. :(

I think it requires a fossil driver to have it run. I don't know if you
can direct DOORWAY to do it to COM0 and have it run that way. I can't
recall if I had a local option once or not.

The only bad thing about it, as it were, is that you can only place 10 nodelist entries with it. Any more than that, you have to set up another instance of the door.

No big issues, wonder why someone would make something without a local logon tho??!

No problems here, just have FidoNet, and MetroNet.

There are 3 things that fail when we get older. The first is
    memory ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Crap!! I forgot the other two!! <G>

I told my late wife that "If I forget to clean up after using
the toilet, I'm in trouble". Without missing a beat, she said
"So, you stay in trouble!!". Then, I said "My head is so far up
my butt that I can see my throat!!". And just as quick, she said
"That's why your eyes are brown!!". <BG>

I figured I had better quit while I was ahead. :P

I want to say I had a deal for it set with a local logon, but what you
might do is load the X00 fossil driver outside the BBS, for a local logon
    in a DOS Window.

No problems here, just have FidoNet, and MetroNet.

I'm seriously considering dropping several networks, due to apparent
lack of traffic. However, FIDONet, ILinkNet, and GTPowerNet (the ones
I recall offhand) are rather busy. I was looking at taking over a couple
of networks, but I haven't heard back from the Sysop on that.

    ... Don't just stand there...KNEEL!!

Reminds of when I was working in silkscreen printing. This one female employee and I were real good friends (she had lost her first husband
to colon cancer). Anyway, when printing decals, we would have to put
them on a rack, but I'd have to start from the bottom and work up, until
I could stand, and take the decals to put them on the rack.

Well, before we started, grinning wryly, she said "Assume the position...
on your knees!!". You can take that however you want it. <VBG>

One day, I said to her "Feces Occurs". She got this blank look on her
face, and when I "translated it", she busted out laughing. She said "I'm
going to tell my sister!!". Well, when she walked in the next morning, I
asked "Did you ask your sister??". She replied "Yep!!" (grinning widely).
Then, I asked "Same reaction??". She replied "Yep!!", and busted out
    laughing. <G>

Sadly, she remarried another guy too soon, and the marriage didn't
last. She resigned to work at another business long before I did, and
I have no idea what happened to her.
