• Legitimate D'Bridge Question.

From Mark Hofmann@1:261/1304 to All on Tue Dec 24 20:39:22 2024

By chance is having %RESCAN on the roadmap for D'Bridge? Maybe with some type of message limit since that could potentially create a huge packet.

Someone asked me that question recently, so figured I would ask.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!

    Rescans have always been supported.

That is great news - now I just need to figure out what is going on with my setup. First, I am way behind in version so an upgrade on needed.

I found where you can force a rescan via the menu. Is there also a way to do it via AREAFIX? I think others have tried doing %RESCAN on a single line.

Keeping up to date is always a good idea regardless of the software and there has been a few this year.

If not already sign up to get the DBRIDGE file area from your upload site or even here at 2:250/1 via applewood.linkpc.net/files

and select files DB45*.ZIP the lastest are dated 03 Dec 2024.

Not by %Rescan, but by the -R parameter on the subject line.

The *.MSG files must exist and the requesting system must not already be in the message Seen-By lines.

I'm not sure how to answer that; it has been "the" standard since the early 90's, going by the timestamp of the code here.

It wasn't a question. I was just clarifying for the OP: the AREAFIX options follow the password separated by white-space.

So the format would be "Subject: AREAFIXPW -R"
    Body:
    +MESSAGEAREA
    +MESSAGEAREA2

Trying to ensure I have the proper syntax so it can be applied to WWIV in WWIVFTN (the WWIVnet/FTN gateway I run over here).

    Thanks!

Since I don't Areafix to my own hub system, I have not seen the output. I have been asked by several nodes over the years and figured it was time to get more clarity.

I've tried this on the wwiv ftn hub; and I'm not getting old messages.

Thanks for asking Mark. Don't know if you have had opportunity to upgrade to newer version; but I've only seen posts made since I've connected to wwivftn.

    No old messages.

    I did <areafixpw> -R in subject.

And listed areas with + preceeding them in body, as I thought was explained in discussion.

Areafix responded that I was already subscribed to the echoes.

I think it did work. Wasn't patient enough before making my last post.

700+ now in general chat :-)
