So my question...are there any other contemporary-made games for the C64? There is also "Ghosts 'N Goblins 2015" that is every bit as frustrating asthe
original arcade game was. But it looks really good, and plays as well asthe
original.
...and by "recent" I'm talking within the last handful of years.

There have been some commercial ones at least but I can't remember
exactly. Protovision sells them though, https://www.protovision.games/shop/product_info.php?products_id=241
I also remember someone did the original (1990 release) Prince of Persia
for the C64. I think even played briefly it in Vice emulator. The game actually needs a special cartridge to run as I recall.

Yes look up the 8-bit guy on youtube. He wrote a few games and apps for the
recently and, if memory serves, it was the first RTS for the c64.
EasyFlash, cutting downand
multiloads and even improving old games (as was done with Speedball Duology
IK+ Ultimate)
I think it is called "Planet X2". He later wrote the DOS version "Planet
X3" for MS-DOS.

Ultima IV Remastered is available for EasyFlash too. This version also
runs off a single disc (although the download seems to have two 1541
disc images). See http://ultima4.ultimacodex.com/ultima-4-remastered/
Was this done by one of the Ultima Dragons?
I recall there was a total remake of Ultima V using the Dungeon Siegeengine...
