    Is QuickBBS still a thing despite its former owner abandoning the bbs world 21 years ago?

    That's because he lost the original source that he bought and decided to rewrite it from scratch.

    The original author was Adam Hudson (hence the "Hudson Message Base").

    So when you refer to quickbbs you are more likely speaking about Hudson message bases?
