    Robert,

Please contact me via my email (you should have it). I've
been unable to get a connect with winserver.org for quite
some time, and neither has Mike Powell (who I get Micronet,
GT Power, and AutoSports Net from).

If I can't get something worked out, I'm going to drop
DixieNet, as well as a bunch of other networks as of March
1 (mainly those done by Kris Lewis and Gert Kofoed Andersen).
This is because I see very little traffic in either of their
    network echoes.

However...right now, I have 2 back to back snowstorms to
worry about...so the BBS is low priority. Yet, as long as
I have power, and there are no thunderstorms in the area,
    I'm online.

Q: Do you Sysop, take this BBS, to be your lawfully wedded spouse??
A: Well, it's in the bedroom, but I'm the one getting screwed. <G>

In Arkansas at this typing, we are under a Winter Storm Warning statewide, with Wind Chill Advisories and Warnings, Hard Freeze Warnings, and Lake Wind Advisories (what idiot is out in blizzard like conditions on a lake??!!). It
is currently snow and freezing fog and 11 degrees in Little Rock, and we may drop to -2 tonight. Total accumulations by the time it ends tonight could be
a foot...with another foot of snow expected Wednesday through Thursday.

As long as I can keep power and internet, I'll be happy.

Which is why I run my BBS on a VPS :)

    AWS. :)

I discovered that the minute DOSemu is loaded, my vCPUs go nuts. $14/mo, Reserved Instances.

Yeah, not all of us are made of $$ :) LOL I use InterServer for both
of my VPSes. $6/month for my Linux instance and $10/month for my
    Windows instance.

I've gone back and forth between running my BBS at home, moving it to a true VPS, or keeping it on AWS. The advantages, for me anyway, of running it on AWS is the flexibility. Once I discovered the right sizing of the system, I set up the BBS as a reserved instance. (2 vCPU, 2GB memory)

My issue is that the internet connectivity where I am at is crappy at
best. Not to mention very slow. The VPS is much faster and now with
the software upgrade, things are beginning to work as they should.

I have no experience with a hosted system but, on my home pc, dosemu will occupy 1 cpu easily. I found it did not run real well on a 2 cpu system if
I had other things (like the bbs itself) running. The system I run it on
now is a 4 cpu and it works much better.

My machine also has xserver running. Without an xserver, I tend to get
more free resources for dosemu and other things running (like a binkd
    server).
