Is there anyone here a Samsung smarttv owner? I'm wondering if
the built-in browser cooperates with the functionality of this
site:
https://bbs.lc/oKmby
https://www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca/CLUPA/ index.html?viewer=CLUPA.CLUPA&locale=en-CA
i'm sure it wouldn't function well. the built in browser is shit. https://robotpoweredhome.com/internet-browser-on-samsung-tv/
But sofar, most sites even YT (they are HTML5 since many years
ago now) work OK, so that article is outdated.
The first-time use of the browser seemed to have issues with
certain sites. But an update was available. After that, most
sites cooperated very well.
The TV itself was a floor model and the user got it at half
price. It's a fairly badass 42" or something.
Another option might be to install a conventional browser and
operate that as an app.

Have them get an androidtv box if they want to use their television for more than a television.
The client is a bit of a luddite. Extra gear just confuses
him.

you can get one on amazon with a gaming controller with keyboard and
mouse built in, and a remote control for 40 bucks

Depends, the software has seen updates... it's a fork of Chrome for Android/Tizen.

You can use a USB keyboard/mouse device on the TVs as well, my mom uses
one for hers.

Hello MRO!
Have them get an androidtv box if they want to use their television for more than a television.
Right now, it's a 50-50 mix of actual TV (satellite) and
internet (rural internet).
I added a keyboard and mouse. The tv has suitable extra USB
ports or those. $10 from a thrift shop.
so we have a 65" ju6700. i updated the apps. it says i have the latest browser. i put in my usb controller and i was able to get into the settings.
it does not load up

Thx for letting me know.

How would i know? it says browser and i run it.
it's not like a computer where i can click an about box.
I don't even use the tv interface. i have a dell hooked up to it and we stream tv and movies on it.
Mine has a triple-bar "Settings" icon at the very right, aka
"hamburger" icon. Clicking that reveals this:

okay now i see.
mine says 1.0.0.1208 which is weird.
i guess samsung doesn't want to update it for our tv. too hard!

You can force it to check for updates. My friend's tv is over
4 yrs old, and I did the update for him this year.

How old is your Samsung TV? If you already mentioned that in another post, perhaps I don't remember.. I have a Samsung smart TV that I bought in 2015, and I've read Samsung is no longer supporting that platform and are only supporting their 2016 and newer TVs. I don't want to replace that TV yet, so I bought a Roku streaming device to connect to it.

well there's a little download arrow on the icon and i clicked it
so i thought they would do it.
i'm not planning on using it again, though.
