    The Fidonet WIN95 Echo Rules
    Updated 14 February 2022

Moderator: Sean Dennis (1:18/200 or sysop@outpostbbs.net)

Despite the echotag, this echo is for the discussion and support of
the Microsoft Windows operating system. All versions of Windows are
on-topic here as are any utilities and programs for Windows though
    Windows is the main topic.

By your participation in this echo, you agree to the following rules:

    * Real names are required to be used in this echo. No aliases. If
your BBS software will not allow you to toggle between real name and
alias in the message header, sign your message with your full real
    name.

    * Be friendly. Agree to disagree. Don't flame or argue in this echo.
If you must do so, please take it to netmail or somewhere else.

    * Do not discuss anything illegal in this echo.

    * All messages must be in English. You may post a message in your
native language as long as an English translation accompanies the
native post in the same message.

    * No blatently off-topic posts, such as BBS ads, "test" messages,
messages about politics or religion, et cetera. The moderator
reserves the right to make the final decision if a message is on-
    or off-topic.

    * Please don't gate this echo to USENET, a mailing list, another BBS
mail network, an online Fidonet mail archive, or anything else
without the moderator's express and written permission. This is a
Fidonet echo and needs to stay in Fidonet.

    * This echo does not recognize any local or regional echomail policy,
such as EP1, and originates from zone 1.

    * Any traffic concerning Fidonet matters, such as alleged "echo
hijackings", complaints about other echoes and their moderators, or
any traffic construed as such by the moderators is OFF-TOPIC. Please
take such discussion to netmail or another appropriate echo.

    * The moderator has the final say in dealing with problems in the
echo. If you have something to say about a moderator's action,
please contact him via netmail (preferred) or email.

    * This is a living document and will be adjusted as needed.

    * This document will be posted on the 1st and 15th of each month.

    * Please don't hesitate to contact the moderator with any questions
    about this document.

Thank you for your participation in WIN95!

    Second warning.

Third warning I'll file a complaint with Ward.

It's "you're", not "your", and there's no comma between "funny" and "and". I can definitely tell English is your second language.

    LOL! Good luck with that.

    It's "you're", not "your",

OMG! Are you actually saying that US English speaking people never make that mistake?

and there's no comma between "funny" and "and".

Yes there is. It divides two parts of the sentence. "I am, you are" is the proper way.

I can definitely tell English is your second language.

We can all tell that US English is your *only* language. US English is infamous for not knowing how to handle a comma correctly.

I remember a famous quote from some 15 years ago, in, I think, the New York Times:

"The best way to make sense of the Second Amendment is to take away
all the commas (which, I know, means that only outlaws will have
    commas)."

Do you have any relation with Russia?

I would expect some questionaire like: do we need moderator (yes/no) and then some candidate list (because you are nice example of real need of moderator). And then we probably will have moderator here.

    LOL! Good luck with that.

I have been talking to Ward about you and Winfred for a while now.
Surprised? Ward and I have been at each other for decades but you know, he
has given me some good advice and things to think about.

It's disappointing to see how you act. When I first joined Fidonet, I
really looked up to you as a beginning Pascal programmer for all of your
code in SWAG (of which I still host a mirror on my website). Then your behavior towards others, and eventually me, made me lose all respect for
you. I felt badly for you when your wife passed away but instead, your
actions towards me have tempted me to use that against you in spite.

As I've grown older and my own health is failing fast--I am now permanently physically disabled and cannot work; I cannot walk without wearing a pair of
20 pound prosthetic boots and a cane and most of the time I have to use a
power scooter to get around due to a rare side effect of type 2 diabetes and
I also have a blood clot in my right leg that threatens to move at any time
and could possibly kill me--I've tried to turn the other cheek with you and others in here. But with your continued negative behavior, all it wants to make me do is return it right back to you.

I think both you and Wilfred could be valuable assets to Fidonet still even
    if we disagree on things.

However, it seems that neither of you care to do so and consider me a bad person simply because I am keeping echoes alive. Why you focus on me when there's others in Zone 1 doing the same thing, I'll never know.

Remember, if it wasn't for behavior like yours and Winfred, I'd have no
    reason to post echo rules.

So think what you want about me but I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I still care about Fidonet, whether you agree with me or not.

As I said to Wilfred, I was considering backing off being a "moderator" in
the echo but I have reconsidered that.

I know that nothing I do or say will get you or Wilfred to listen to me
since neither of you have any respect for me, so I'll return the favor and
do what Ward suggested: just ignore you unless you have something to
contribute other than "piss and vinegar". I will not risk my health and
life for you or anyone else.

Thanks for the laugh after a long day, Winfred. Appreciate it.

Ward and I have been having a long discussion in netmail about my taking up echoes and being the moderator. He kindly explained Zone 2's views on that. While I chuckled at that, I could see where he was coming from.

I was going to back off in here from doing that but since you insist on
being a jackass about it, I've decided not to.

So if you want to cry about my being moderator in here, you now have no one
    to blame but yourself.

From now on, I'm simply going to ignore you and anyone else who has a
    problem with me being moderator.

If you don't like it, go create your own echo like you did for the self-appointed nodelist police, which like the rest of us, no one cares
    about.

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me. When I still had a lousy ADSL connection to internet, I had too Disallow my SWAG mirror in my robots.txt file because all the search robots took up so much upload speed, when crawling over all the PAS files over and over again, that it was quite noticeable. Now, many years later, with 100/100Mb fibre it's high time open it up again.

    1999. 784k/384k ADSL. How far we've come!

Indeed. I originally had a 2/.5M abb in 2002 (when my 2xIDSN abb with two additional copper wire pairs connected to my house, was cancelled). It eventually was updated, step by step, to an incredible 8/2M abb on the same pair of copper wires. At the cost of EUR40 per month, when the average cost for fibre was EUR20.

Well, after a long (almost like GigaBerlin now) incredible fight, we eventually got our fibre here, in the outskirts of G”teborg, almost ten years ago.

And here I was with ten (!) *pairs* of copper wires ("for future use, you damn line user") connected to my house. Oh, how nice it was to cut that huge cable at my property border, and clean out all the shit, needed for ISDN and then ADSL to work, on my wall. :)
