• Question about *MODEM file transfer

    From test4d@1:103/705 to All on Wed Dec 28 01:41:34 2022
    hi all, I have a question
    I have been messing with the file transfer, and on my BBS, the transfer seems to stop when the file is at 3.2MB
    is there any way to increase the size? thank you

    There is certainly no built-in limit of 3.2MB anywhere. What do you mean "seems to stop"? Are you getting errors on the BBS transfer protocol side (e.g. sexyz) or on the client side? Are you out of disk space where you're receiving the uploads on the BBS?

    I'll describe what's happening:
    So, I'm using qodem on GNU/Linux, I'm trying to upload a ~10MB file, and I'm using ZMODEM.
    When I start the upload, it seems to go fine, then it stops at 3.2MB. Qodem tries a few times before disconnecting.

    On the BBS, This appears in the logs:
    ```
    12/28 16:28:35 term Node 2 <test4d> sexyz: !zmodem_recv_init received ZRQINIT instead of ZFILE or ZFIN
    12/28 16:29:19 term Node 2 SSH WARNING 'Unexpected KEXINIT request received' (-32) popping data from input_thread
    12/28 16:29:20 term Node 2 <test4d> sexyz: !Socket Disconnected
    12/28 16:29:20 term Node 2 <test4d> sexyz: !Invalid Subpacket data subpacket (997 bytes) ABORTED
    12/28 16:29:20 term Node 2 <test4d> sexyz: !3355648 ERROR #1: ABORTED (type: Invalid Subpacket)
    ```

    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help so far.

    Oh, I should also add that the first 3.2MB _is_ going through - the file is there, and when I download it, I get the picture I uploaded, but half of it is grey pixels.

    Try a different client (e.g. SyncTERM).

    Thanks for your help so far.

    Sure. You said "*MODEM", so does that mean you're getting similiar failures at the same file offset/size with XMODEM and YMODEM uploads too? It really sounds like a problem with the client (qodem).

    Yeah, the other protocols fail too, I think it is a problem with qodem. I will give SyncTERM a try, thank you!
