These "artists" care so much about who plays their songs and where, but only if it's Trump. They don't want their songs played without
permission "at any venues," but what does that mean? I can't play their song at my kid's graduation party, because it will be held "at a
venue?" And I have to call Dave Grohl up on the phone first, to ask him for permission?
First, most of those "artists" don't own their works. The recording labels do. So the "artists" don't have any say in the matter and only a copyright holder can sue for infringement.
Several elitist musicians are complaining about the Trump campaign using their[...]
music on social media posts and for playing it at his rallies.
This is beyond TDS, this is some kind of elitism disease. Trump's not making bootleg recordings, or selling ripped CDs, he's just playing songs on a stereo
system. If he can't do it then nobody should be able to either.
I don't believe that any of these "artists" have a case of copyright infringement though, because the Trump campaign isn't even trying to make mone
off the music (the Trump rallies are free admission.)
In come cases, it is political -- i.e. artist likes candidate A but candidate B is the one using their music. There are supposedly a lot of artists that do like Trump so he should probably stick to using their music.
If you are going to use commercial music, especially in cases that might make you money (or raise money for a campaign), it is best to get the permission of the artist first.
I think it's just the Isaac Hayes family who is actually suing. But Dave Grohl is just trying to be a cheerleader for the left by saying "All proceeds from that song will go to the Harris campaign."
"Trying" is the operative word since he probably doesn't have any say in the matter.

And even if they did, if they used it under an ASCAP license, there's nothing the "artists" can do.
I am guessing you'd not like it if Kamala was using a song you wrote and performed, even if the record company owns it.
Like I said, this is nothing new. I think we just hear about it now because of the damned internet -- the "idiot box" of the 2000s.

Yea, these celebrities seem like they have some kind of
behind-the-scenes contract with the left. Dave Grohl is just clearing
the air to make sure that the top elite (Soros, Gates, etc) don't start
to doubt their allegiance.

That's probably closer to the truth than anything that I've seen.
It seems to me that, once you become a "star" in Hollywood, you've been completely compromised on ethics and morals.
