• Alarming Poll Numbers

From Mike Powell@1:2320/105 to ALL on Sat Oct 7 09:50:00 2023
I read a poll yesterday where more conservative Americans believe our
number one problem is the border crisis. Other choices included the cost
of food, and the cost of energy/fuel/transportation.

While I believe the border is a problem that needs to be dealt with, I care about it less and less as the cost to feed myself and keep my power on
stays much higher than it was in 2020.

If you agree that the border crisis should be our top priority, do you also agree you would feel that way if you have no food or heat this winter?

In a series of recent posts, I mentioned traveling across country and
noticing the tent/RV cities and excessive litter along the way. The areas
I noticed these things in the most were the areas where food and fuel were
the most expensive. I don't think that is a coincidence.

My poll choice, BTW, was cost of energy/fuel/transportation because I
believe that is part of the reason food costs are also up.

Yes Mike, I still think the border crisis is more important. Look at all the nasty stuff the unprecedented president has gotten us into:

Millions of people, from all around the world, all without criminal background verification, are all walking around our country right now.

We do criminal record checks on people before we hire them to run a cash register at the gas station, and we do that to prevent problems for the gas station. Think of the USA as a gas station with 20 million+ gas station employees who skipped the criminal record check. Do you think any money will turn up missing from the cash register?

That "poll" smells like propaganda to focus people's attention on the border where Biden is "doing something about it". Never mind that he created the problem in the first place.

So I'd chalk this one up to another distraction.

I would not as I know the actual likelihood of me being victimized by one
of "Joe's invitees" is pretty slim. Where I live, I am much more likely to
be a victim of a white American confidence grifter than I am to come upon Mexican Joker.

The two run-ins I had while touring the US southern tier were also with non-hispanic "domestic" individuals.

OTOH, the likelihood of me being affected negatively by rising energy and food costs is 100%.

    That could be.

I will also note that I assume it was targeted at conservative Americans as
one of the other choices was "Abortion rights" and it did not even have 1%
of the vote. That tells me who was not voting in it.

I see your points, and there will be some consequences if there's a shutdown, but some people (myself included) think it would be worth it.

The Democrats want that cash really bad. Surely they will work something out. But some problems can't be on the back burner for so long.

You *do* know that the US *exports* five million barrels of crude oil per day?

That's 800 million litres per day. More than enough to fill the tank on 10 million cars. *Per* *Day*

And still you blame Biden for this? Why not put the blame where it belongs -- on the US oil barons, that prefer to sell their oil on international commodity market, rather than to the US consumers.

And also blame the US consumers, that refuse to reduce their oil consumption. Leave those huge, gas guzzling trucks be, and get smaller cars. After all, the size of your car has nothing to do with the size of your penis -- unlike popular belief in the US.
