Have you configured a QWK network, is it set to active, and is it set to "Member Type: Node"? Is the archive type and packet ID set to something?

Actually have it set to member type "hub" IIRC.

Did you perform a fresh install or is this an upgrade? If its an
upgrade and you haven't upgraded in a while there are probably things
you need to do to make it work. Do the logs say anything?

This is a a fresh installation.

And since its Linux do you understand how access and ownership works in Linux file systems? It could be something along those lines too.

Of course. I would not have earned my Linux certification or be a senior
Linux engineer where I work if I didn't understand how access and ownership works :)

The "Member Type" should be set to "Node", give that a shot.

When you're set to run in as a Hub QWKPOLL will not try to connect to anything because you are the Hub (ie nodes connect to you to send/receive messages).
