I think as the licenses come up for renewal, they're being replaced
with licenses that can serve as the Federal ID

Mine is up for renewal in January.

If there's a choice, do get the one that can serve as the Federal ID...
it probably will save you trouble in the long run... :)

At one time my SS card said "Not for ID purposes" or the like.
Yeah... it was never intended to be used for ID except for the SSA...
but, ironically, I first got my SS number when I needed it for my
college to use as my ID number for them.... :)

I got my first one when I had my first "real" job, passing papers.
I started working at 13 mowing lawns but that was all cash, under the table, going door-to-door.

Only thing I did before college was babysitting, and selling hand-made potholders door to door... didn't need to report to SS...

The military used to have their own ID numbers (serial numbers) but
I understand that was replaced with one's SSN a few years ago. Makes sense, fewer numbers to remember.

And it's all the same federal government... at least in theory... ;)

But my Medicare card does have it, only with a -A extension.
Those are being replaced now, by a number that has numbers and letters
and has no relation to your SSN.... supposed to be more secure.... ;)

As I wrote Daryl my newest one does have those letters and numbers.

    Right. :)

... Great! Now if we can just keep it from exploding...

Yet, I never took a typing course in my life...becoming a touch
typist after first calling BBS's 35 years ago, and becoming a Sysop 29 years ago.

I did have a typing course in high school... I was doing pretty well,
until the teacher noticed that my attention was on my hands on the
keyboard, instead of on the paper in the typewriter... She put a paper
up to hide the keyboard, and my rates/accuracy plummeted... <G> So I
never really learned touch typing... at least not then... Nowadays,
after years of typing messages for BBS echoes (at times, in a dark
room), I come close to being more of a touch typist... I still check my fingers from time to time, but mostly I look at the screen and can fix
typos on the fly (the fingers know where the backspace key is as well as
they know the alphabet)... :) I don't keep my hands really in place on
the keyboard, either... it's a cross between using both hands all
fingers and using two or three from each hand all over the keyboard...
I can type it all with either hand, actually... And often do... <G>
