Joe Mackey is still listed as moderator of this area although I haven't seen him around in years so I doubt we'll hear from him.
For what it's worth I have no issue with your autoposts.

Echoing Al's sentiment, I also have no issues with them.
I'm sorry to hear that. I wish you and your family the best
over the holdays and beyond.
This is what I have been thinking but I don't know.
Wherever Joe is now, sitting in his armchair or looking down on
us from above I wish him only the best as well.
Alan,
I'm the last of my line. The only other relatives I know of are out
of state, older than I am, and can't travel anymore.
My late father was the victim of that. Sadly, by the time it is
discovered, it's usually too late to do anything.
Agreed.
One of the echoes other longtime members, Nancy Backus, lost her
battle with stomach cancer awhile back. She was very active in the
message areas.
One day, I had the tagline "I took an IQ test, and the results were negative". Without missing a beat, she replied "That explains a lot",
then added <g,d,r>.
She said "I hope you weren't offended by that", and I told her "Not
at all...I got a good laugh out of it".

How do you know he's looking down? Could be up, or even sideways (Purgatory, ya know).

Grinning, ducking and running, I think.
Ed,
That's the email address I had for him, but I don't recall how
long ago it was when I heard from him. He told me that he had been
diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which at that point, is
a death sentence. My late father only lasted 6 weeks after he was
diagnosed with it.
When my late Mom had AT&T DSL, every time there was a thunderstorm
or power outage, the DSL modem failed. That meant no landline (not
even 911) and no internet.
I came over to her place (which is where I am now, as all of my
family is dead and gone now), and got on the phone with them. AT&T
was giving me the runaround, and when I said "I want to talk to your supervisor"...they promptly cut me off!!
So, I dialed them back (having to use my cellphone), and when they
said "this call will be monitored and recorded", I growled "It d@mn
sure better after what the last representative did to me".
I apologized to my Mom afterwards (she was 90 at the time) for
using foul language...and said "I can't blame you...I heard
everything!!". They were going to make her wait 3 weeks to get a
new DSL modem, so I read them the riot act...in spades!!
So, they sent a technician by the next morning, and when I told
him what happened, he was furious. He said "They do this crap all
the time"...and got my Mom a new DSL modem, and his card, with his
private cell number. He told us "if it fails, call the number on
the card (do NOT call AT&T), and either myself or one of my crew
will have a replacement here within 24 hours".
Several months after her death, when an AT&T representative tried
to sell my phone and DSL service, I told them what happened, and
snarled "I wouldn't take your crappy service, if you gave it to me
for nothing!!".
I am with Consumer Cellular, and being an AARP member, I get a
5% discount on my bill. Since I also have insurance, and am making
a monthly payment plan on my Samsung Galaxy A16 phone (which I've
used as an internet hotspot), with unlimited talk, text, and 10 GB
of data, I pay $55 a month. That will go down once I pay off the
phone, in about another year.
It is rare that I use 10 GB of data, as mostly, I'm piggybacking
off of the Xfinity Wi-Fi.

After getting the cellphone service I used whatsmyip (iirc)
and was surprised to see AT&T owned the company I had sevice
with. Months oater after seeing a Comsumer Cellular TV
advertisement I used whatsmyip and saw AT&T provided internet
service for that also. Sorry if I made Your jaw drop
Like You Inever used the desktop during a storm, so I don't
know if there was any troubles when it was storming .
I often get Slow Down messages from the cell service telling Me
when I used 100% of my monthly service.
Even with just a cellphone, I only use it during an emergency during a thunderstorm.
Ed,
I still would not go back to them, if they gave it to me for nothing...after the way they treated my late Mom.
The pastor who married my late wife and I, was on the phone during
a thunderstorm, and lightning hit the line. It literally blew him
across the room. After that, he would NEVER be on the phone during
a thunderstorm. Even with just a cellphone, I only use it during an
emergency during a thunderstorm.
I usually piggyback off of the Xfinity Wi-Fi, and rarely go over
my limit.
