I only use FB for a few friends. Otherwise I don't.

    Joe,

I've used spam filters that are sometimes a bit too ambitious. It
will mark good email as spam.
Some ad blockers say good sites are dangerous.
And its sometimes the opposite, bad is listed as good.

What I'm afraid of is a site being infected by malware, but it still
looks legitimate. I "practice safe hex", but you can't be too careful.

Haven't left FB completely... I'm the one that does the
broadcast from church, and I have some friends that that
is the only way they communicate, but I don't 'hang out'
    there any longer. :-)

I don't use FB more than about 10 minutes a day. And that is generally
on my phone when I have a few minutes to spare before going to work.
I am in a couple of groups and new messages there are e-mailed to me.
But I have never been one to spend hours on FB. I have better things to

If it wasn't for the fact that several of my ham radio traffic
nets have Facebook groups that I use for checkins, and that I'm
the social media/web chairperson for the Arkansas State Square
Dance Federation, I'd leave it as well.

I heard about the "copied". But it was described to be a way to
preserve any history of the chatter predating the Capitol event
    - by posting it open and in the clear on the internet.

So, the hack was on purpose.

Yes, and what I heard of it, it was quite easy, because of the code mess the owner/creator made of it. It very much sounds like an amateur job.

I wouldn't necessarily want the app either. But I like the idea
that people have options to use different technologies for
    privacy.

There are (like Telegram and Signal ;-)). But Parler isn't one of them...

    Bye, Wilfred.

I've barely had time for social media or my BBS lately, in the aftermath
of being in a multi-vehicle wreck last week (which wasn't my fault). I'm usually only on Facebook now for my ham radio nets that have "groups",
for checkins during the net. I also use Netlogger.

I've been posted at a clinic for a couple of weeks and there is literally nothing to do there. Just sit for the most part.
A big thrill is calling a local hospital shuttle, or the bus company Dial-a-ride to transport someone.
I have spent more time on FB (a couple of hours a day) than I have in the last year combined.
At another post I can take the laptop and be productive doing something.
I've been putting in 56+ hour weeks for a month.
Glad I'm retired and only working part time. I can imagine the hours I
would be working if I were full time again.
