Hey, you're getting at this. :)

Every day I record that days events, including the weather.

My Grandma did similar for years.... I ended up with many of them,
although quite a number of them were lost for one reason or another...

I will re-read parts of them weekly. Currently its 15 years ago, five
years ago and one year ago.
Its interesting to see how something I noted in passing later became important or something I thought was important later meant little. And how something important was never recorded. (This is usually some news event, etc).
And its interesting to see if I have evolved or devolved in various
personal areas. How my thinking, if any, changed or not.
Mae West once gave advice to a young woman saying, "Keep a diary, someday
    it may keep you". :)

where I was and what I was doing. :)

As long as you can locate that day's journal entry.... :)

I have the hard copies in the closet, all in order by year, in spiral
bound note books like we used in school. Since '01 they are three different CD's, in case one fails I have a back up. I don't want a repeat of 2000.

Must be my eagle eye for typos.... (didn't you leave out the word 'good' there...?)

    A nice exercise... :)

Yes, that could be interesting.... :) It wasn't something that I
    really got into doing...

You do have a good collection, then... :)

    Boy, I'm really slipping...
    Good catch.
I write a lot of personal e-mails each week and often times it a basic
one and then copy and paste, add/delete parts for the others.
I'll edit the first one and seem ok with spelling and grammar, but then
the next time just looking it over a typo or mistake (like above) will jump
    out at me.
In the past I've had to write reports and such and would re-read and
edit, then sit it aside (when possible) for a day so its cold (or not as warm) and re-read only to find some error I missed.

Some folks have no idea how to cut and paste...unless they think it's
with scissors, paper, and glue. :P

You need a second set of eyes. I screwed up in my first attempt at
Desktop Publishing, but I knew it'd happen eventually.

With echo messages, often some of my typos only jump out at me when I
see it quoted back at me... and here I thought I'd caught them all on
    the fly... ;)

I did the same when I was writing minutes for a council I was secretary
for... I'd get the first draft written up right after the meeting from
my notes, and hope it was sufficient... but then would wait a week or
two and then revisit... always caught typos and sentences that needed to
be somewhat better structured.... This group only met once a year, so I
could set it aside for more than just a day... :)
