I print out* ledger sheets, as needed, to record debits and credits with my debit card, deposits, etc.
I use the free check register my credit union gives me to document all
the activity from the checking account... :)

I write so few cheques today the registers that come with them are
    used up in no time.

When I stop in the bank to make a deposit or whatever, I'll ask for
another register if mine is filling up... they've got plenty to hand out
as needed... :) Just got one the other day...

good. Do the same thing with my yearly calendars I print out in December. I will save coloured paper for this wheneve
    Whenever? ;)

For this whenever I print a new calendar.

    That's what I thought it was... :)

I get so many calendars in the mail there's no need for
me to print any out.... I give most of them away....

    My calendars have 1x1.5" boxes.

The calendar I use for appointments and such has the same...

I write a lot of stuff in there,
such as times and places where I'm working, appointments, notes of all sorts, etc. Most of those free one's don't have a large enough box for all that.

I do the same... mostly appointments, but some notes as well... My
problem with most of the free ones is that they are printed on glossy
paper, which only works if one uses ink and doesn't need to erase
anything... I do actually buy one at the office supply store usually,
just to get the flat paper so that I can write in pencil on them...

Sometime after the new year that old calendar is put away
and probably never seen again, but its there in a box somewhere.

Mine end up in a stack with the Income tax return forms and receipts...
it's part of the paperwork... :)
