I should recall what Oscar Lavant did, but it escapes me.
That was as bizarre when George Burns and Gracie Allen...plus when
Robert Preston...were the mystery guests. <G>
He was a noted pianist who had all sorts of phobia's, also a drug user,
but it all viewed in a humourous manner. (The drug use wasn't discussed JM>through).
I always enjoy when a couple are guests and trying to figure out who the
person was would be asked "Are you male (female)" and the opposite one would JM>say "no" which really confused the panel.
My favourite panelist was Arlene Francis. I love that woman. Some of her
remarks were hilarious.
She always wore a heart shaped pendant her husband gave her years
before. In the mid '70s she was mugged with it being stolen and never JM>recovered.
And then Bennett Cerf and his horrible puns.
He wouldn't last on tv today with his remarking to female guests how
pretty they are, or if their good looks had anything to do with their job.
And John Charles Daley, I always remember him as the first newscaster to
say, "We interrupt this program" to announce the bombing of Pearl Harbour.

Well, there's only 2 choices. <G>
And then Bennett Cerf and his horrible puns.
Didn't he also do some books??
There was a line from Arlene Francis around 1965 where someone on the
panel mentioned "well, one can only be male or female" and she quipped JM>something along the lines of "Things are changing so fast today its sometime JM>difficult to tell". I howled wonderin
She had written a lot of stories on the mob and its believed someone
didn't like them. I don't think her murder was ever solved.

I'll bet everyone else did, too. Your reply got cut off like you see
it there.

It was something along the lines of what would she think about today's
world with all the changes and trying to keep up with all the "new" genders JM>being discovered on almost a daily basis. :)

And, that was over 55 years ago!!
BTW, that comment you said about the unsigned check being "worthless"
and Groucho's reply ("Wait until *I* sign it!!") made my day.
Sysop Bill McGarrity passed away awhile back.
* OLX 1.53 * Bad Restaurant: Hospital map on the back of the menu.
IMHO society started losing its collective mind around 1965.
You're easily amused, aren't you? :)
Sysop Bill McGarrity passed away awhile back.
Sorry to hear that.
Never knew him through.
Reminds me of a cartoon where an ambulance is parked in front of a
restaurant with the owner asking if they would move around back, it was bad JM>his business.
I couldn't remember the name of his BBS (Tequila Mockingbird), and
knew he had run Sportnet...but wasn't sure if he ran other networks as well. I looked through, and made sure his BBS and info was no longer on the system.
this bill mcgarrity (65 years old) is still alive and active on facebook...
the one that was linked was 83 years old and died in 2016... our BM has been ML>active since then... right up until his system was damaged by construction ML>crews shorting out a huge electrical feed which happened in 2018...
