• TB format=flowed update

    From Nicholas Boel@1:154/10 to All on Wed Mar 27 18:53:28 2024
    Hello All,

    I noticed I was injecting non breaking spaces again, I must have reverted some changes I did back when it was a topic of conversation. However, the good news is I tinkered a little bit more, and have come up with probably the best answer in regards to Thunderbird and format=flowed. This is all you need to change in Settings - Config Editor:

    mailnews.display.disable_format_flowed_support = true

    This one:

    mailnews.send_plaintext_flowed = true

    .. can stay default (true), and will actually continue to use format=flowed in Thunderbird, without adding that 'crap' as Tommi calls it. :)

    Regards,
    Nick

    Interesting. Just tested, no NBSPs inserted.

    However there is now another extra (normal) space:

    * Origin: _thePharcyde distribution system (Wisconsin) (1:154/10)

    But I suppose we can live with that...

    I see it in yours as well. I wonder what that could be now. Thunderbird is so finicky.

    I noticed when you or I quoted it the first time, it added another space. Just a quick test to see if it adds yet another one.

    Looks like it is only viewable that way in Thunderbird itself. So as long as nobody else can complain about it, then I agree. I can live with that if you can. :)

    Do you confirm seeing the extra space before the origin line in Thunderbird only?

    By the way, you can fix quoting issues like this by hitting CTRL-R when editing/replying to a quoted message in Thunderbird. At least until we can figure out what to do about WRAP_WIDTH. :)

    In thunderbird it looks ok now, but in Sylpheed the extra space is there.

    I noticed that after pushing the first fix. Looks like I'll need to look at the quoting part of the code for another fix.

    Yeah, Mozilla developers didn't have FTN-style quoting in mind :-)
