    Hello everybody!

is there a way to tell golded to pick *another* random tagline if you don't like the one it picked the first time?

IIRC, if you are using the internal editor, hit escape while editing the message... there is an option in the menu box that pops up... i know i've changed the tag line in mine before...

be aware that if you use the above method to select a tag line, it will be used
for all other messages you write in that area during that session... you can still use the same method to manually select another one, though... when you go
to the next message area, the random tag line selection will happen again...

if using an external editor, i don't know how to change the tag line other than
    to manually edit it...

There is. Stop wasting your time of selecting taglines and disable them. Nobody
read them anyway. Just add to your config:

    TAGLINESUPPORT no

If you have taglines that you don't like you can be sure that others wouldn't like them too. It would be easier next time if you remove the unwanted tagline from your config.

    gee, nice attitude there !!!!

taglines are a *feature* some people like them, and a few don't. all I am saying is that there should be a way to randomly choose one more than the first

    time...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hold the down arrow down & close yer eyes. Let go when your fingertip loses feeling.

There you go. Reverse with the up arrow works too. :)

(I always keep a ([screenful]-3) of my all-time favourites festering at the top
    of the collection.)

I wanted golded to connect web page and prepare tagline I want. But golded is excellent message editor, why it should cover https client? So I wrapped that. Preparing tag line I want (with other tool), golded has no option.

If you do it the same, you can have weekend preffered taglines, morning taglines, evening taglines, etc...

Yeah, i like the KISS principle, keep it short and simple. ;-)

taglines are a *feature* some people like them, and a few don't. all
I am saying is that there should be a way to randomly choose one more
    than the first

    time...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to choose then it is not randomly. You're asking for a dark light.

You want to choose because you don't like the tagline, don't you? If you don't like a tagline then remove it from your tagline config then there is no need to
    select another. Easy, isn't it?

To work around you could use the file import function. Press ALT-i with default
config in the editor. Select "File as Text" and choose your tagline file. Delete the unwanted taglines.

Or to go back to the KISS principle, what about RTFM?

Taglines are usually one-liner jokes or wisdom or whatever. They serve
absolutely no technical function and are considered by some to be
waste of diskspace and modem time. In some conferences, they may even
be forbidden by the moderator, so if you want to use this feature,
    check the conference rules first!

The tagline support in GoldED is currently not very advanced. You can
define some global taglines and manually select them from a menu,
    like you can with origins.

According to my reference docs it should be CTRL-I.
(Doesn't work here i think because taglinesupport no.)

If the system works like the origin system then you could have some kind of sub-menus in the selection window. I have some single ORIGIN lines in the config and then a reference mark to a different file:

    ORIGIN " Monobox "
    ORIGIN "You did it!"
ORIGIN "Seven holy path to hell"
    ORIGIN "Ride the sky!"
    ORIGIN @/golded/origin/origins.full.txt

    That shows up as:

    ............. Origins ............
    . Monobox .
    . You did it! .
. Seven holy path to hell .
    . Ride the sky! .
    . [origins.full.txt] .
    ..................................

where [origins.full.txt] can be selected and reveals the full list.
Within the random system you could use the full list as a reference.

If the tagline system does work the same way then you could create some kind of
quick access list to your favorite selections.

    Regards

that part was not very well explained via configs.. and manual.. I have yet to get to display correctly

According to my reference docs it should be CTRL-I.
(Doesn't work here i think because taglinesupport no.)

If the system works like the origin system then you could have some

. Seven holy path to hell .
    . Ride the sky! .
    . [origins.full.txt] .
    ..................................

what I read in advanced.cfg implied to me that its either your tagline file, or

taglines that you have put into the config.. did not understand that it would do both

where [origins.full.txt] can be selected and reveals the full list.
Within the random system you could use the full list as a reference.
