• Date and Ansi display fix for GoldED

From RickV@1:154/110 to All on Wed May 6 18:39:12 2026
    Hello everybody!

I've been working on a fux for the Date display error and a ansi display fix for GoldED. I've done pull request on the GoldED github and also created gedwin64.exe and a gedwin.exe for testing. It now displays ansi graphics and CTRL A for SBBS. Seems to work good. Let me know what you think.

The CTRL-A display codes could possibly break mail on other systems, FYI. I wasn't aware of any ANSI dfisplay issues. I'm assuming this is a Windows-only problem?

If you go look at the BBS Ads, in the networks, alot of them have ansi graphics in them. They didn't display right, now most of them do. Also in the DOVE-net areas, some have put color in there orgin lines, and now it displays the color correctly. I tested it on SBBS, Mystic, and Proboard.

Is this only tested on Windows? IIRC, Windows command prompts are still CP437 by default (so I would assume it would work there), whereas Linux consoles are normally UTF-8 these days.

I notice it hasn't been merged into the main branch yet, so it's possible the people that do this may have to look into that first.

I did try and compile it under Linux, the ansi wasn't working but I did fix that date error. Yes, it does work under Windows 32 & 64 now.
