So you're saying we talk too much?

No! But we're giving Fido a future, and I like it.

I suppose relatively. No new blood yet, just activity from old timers.

Assuming that you mean "new blood" = "non-fido users", I
fail to see how new blood is going to be attracted to a
    private group ??

How? - Advertising and self-promotion. Having a private group
is the only way to dissuade spam.

[] Existing users can add their TgM contact IDs in their
    signatures.

[] We can locate some other sysops/users that might already be
using Telegram and inform them of the new option.

[] Moderators can update their ELIST entries to mention the
Telegram option and the relevant @contact ID to get started.

[] The current list of available echos can be advertised in
the other echos that are already gated.

The gate is still in its infancy, and only a handful of echos
are available, so the build-up can't be expected to go very
fast. But, next year, Stas plans to release some code that
sysops may like to implement on their own.

[] It probably wouldn't be hard to create a channel on TgM to
just announce the gate and how to join. Maybe interested
sysops could create their own channel on TgM to promote their
BBSes and how to join the echos. Currently, a search for
"BBS" on TgM doesn't show any groups or channels with those
letters. So, a sysop could create something there and help
people steer their way to a specific BBS with all the relevant
    info.

Quite a few former users and sysops in several facebook groups as well that moved on from bbsing but may be interested in communicating via TG as well

Several of the private groups I am part of in tg use a public group to weed out the spammers and then mods add them to the private groups from there.

Whisper Fidonet via Telegram in some of those places and see
    who bites! :)

All you have to do is add that person to your contacts, and
then you can add them to a group that you are in.

The usual echo rules apply. I realize that some users just
have aliases in TgM. Some moderators might want the user to
sign with their real name in that case - unless Stas' gate can
    implement an Alias/RealName conversion?

That would not be a problem in any of the areas I moderate. None of them have
real name rule. I use my real name in most Fidonet echoes but there are a few like this one, DOOM and a few others where an alias is more appropriate than real name.

    I thought I was posting in COFFEE_KLATSCH.. ;)

I use my real name in this echo because I don't know if the real name rule is in effect here.
