Your system is amazing. The nntp part is a nice way to provide

I'd like to provide an nntp newsfeed for my users, but I'm not sure how
to do it, other than importing every single nntp group into synchronet
    and I don't think that's really feasible.

I connect to your system with nntp to fetch a few fidonet
echos. That's what I meant. The nntp method is practically a
no-brainer for new initiates into the art of converstion in FTN
echoes. It is highly under-advertised and under-promoted!

Ah ok. The problem with nntp is the lack of easy to obtain free usenet
clients for Windows. FreeAgent used to be the goto but even that's no
longer free. Some of the others just plain suck.

That said, I've been using Claws and quite like it.

    Did you try Thunderbird?

Nah, I'm happy with Claws. Does everything I need.

Except putting the name of the sysop you're replying to in the To:
field. All your replies are to "All"...

May just be a config error on my side. Does Thunderbird do that? I'll
    look into it.

I don't know, but you see some jamnntp users, that have the To: field filled in when they reply...

    Bye, Wilfred.

It's only a feature in JamNNTP.

Aha! Now that you mention it there is no "To" field when replying in newsgroups in Thunderbird.

thunderbird has the To field at nntp reply if you use "reply to all"
    feature
Does it not then both send a post via nntp and an email via smtp?

If you use JAMNNTPd there is a way. Like this...

Sending to "Someone Else" doesn't really address the issue that Wilfred brought up in that it doesn't address it to the person you're
    responding to.

    ???

Who do you want me to address it to, then?
