• Message to those who still use port 24554 for 2:203/0

From Björn Felten@2:203/2 to All on Sat May 15 03:51:58 2021
More than five years ago (nodelist 110 from 19 April 2016) I changed from the standard port 24554 to 24555 on my my main system. For compatibility reasons I kept my 24554 port, now pointing to an old Argus setting that basically is used only for various maintenance jobs, i.e. e.g. there's no mail or anything else to get there.

So, those of you who have a hard coded nodelist override for 2:203/0, it's time to remove that and use the five year old nodelist info. 8-)

    Hi! Bj”rn,

I don't. Everything runs from nodelist information in each daily list.
    But...

On 15 May 2021, Bj”rn Felten said the following...

I was thinking thoughts of rejuvenating my old Radius, and needed an excuse.

Have you ever considered running it (Argus) as a simple 'file server'? Only.

I run a LAN of seven (7) PCs of various OS flavours, both real (2) and
virtual (5+) largely without any file sharing. Differing forms of (Ubuntu) SAMBA (M$ file sharing) on the 2 servers gave me the shits these days, so all the LAN entities have binkD. A couple have SAMBA and others just leech using Tux Commander or Total Commander.

So I got to thinking big thoughts, with many hurdles, of creating a special purpose digital library serviced by Radius.

    Big thoughts. How about it?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

So why don't you switch back your main system to the default port?

    Bye, Wilfred.

But it is broken, if you have to specifically warn people about it! ;-)

    Bye, Wilfred.

You mean that my system is broken because I tell people to please use the nodelist? Hmmmm...

If you don't want calls to port 24554, then just close it. People will notice sooner or later.

As long as you allow this:
