It looks like you are not getting any answer on the telnet port?

    That is not true.
    You get this answer:
"Telnet service is disabled or Your telnet session has expired due to inactivity..."

I think that is a message from your client trying to explain the failure.

Definitely not. Whatever is accepting connections at trba.ca:23 is definitly sending the string "Telnet service is disabled or Your telnet session has expired due to inactivity." - this is not a string sent by Synchronet or from the client (e.g. SyncTERM).

On 04 Dec 2020, Alan Ianson said the following...

I was now able to connect to Telnet & SSH no problem. I wasn't able t connect to RLogin, but this was from my work which sometimes does fun things, so could be my end.

Thanks for checking. I'll keep an eye on rlogin and see if that needs adjusting.

Just tried RLogin from home and it seems to be working fine.

Same here, remote unexpectedly closed connection.

    Behaviour on your side changed.
It used to simply reset the connection.

I've been messing with my ports the last few days..

    Now it IS working.

Good, I hope that will continue to be the case.

Thank you for testing that, thank you to all who have helped me sort this out.

    Ttyl :-),
