• Seen by stripping again someone

From Ward Dossche@2:292/854 to All on Tue Aug 24 23:25:12 2021
I'm getting a pile of trash dumped onto my system, probably because someone has been seen-by stripping again ...

    I'm guessing either 1:317/3 1:298/25 or 1:14/0.

Now I don't care who it is ... just stop doing it.

Over 3700 "Too OLD" messages here (from '97 till '99).

I don't know about the dupes (I'm deleting is as them are recognized as dupes).

The root cause is more likely to be an uncarefull rescan, or a link that was standing still for a long time, and just got reestablished. But seen-by stripping probably plays a part in it, but could have happened a long time ago.

    I'm guessing either 1:317/3 1:298/25 or 1:14/0.

1:298/25 and 1:14/0 are operated by the same sysop. And I see some of those dupes without 1:317/3 in the Path line...

Now I don't care who it is ... just stop doing it.

My guess would be one of the systems of the new R14C...

There are more problems in his Region, like this one, unworthy of a RC/NC:

    + 25 Aug 09:21:16 [17983] call to 1:298/0@fidonet
    25 Aug 09:21:16 [17983] trying raiders.phatstar.org [66.175.233.147]...
    25 Aug 09:21:16 [17983] connected
    ...
? 25 Aug 09:21:16 [17983] called 1:298/0@fidonet, but remote has no such AKA

Btw: This is happening since June, when the net was added. And I have reported the problem to him months ago...

    Bye, Wilfred.

Doesn't surprise me a bit, after looking up who the new R14C is. His
BBS's and Othernet operate the same way. I dropped the Othernet long
ago due to piss-poor administration. Maybe somebody needs to let Z1C
know. How did this one ever get to become an RC anyway?

    He's probably aware of it...

How did this one ever get to become an RC anyway?

    Lack of other candidates?

Maybe the alternate choice of adding Regions together is the better option. This can be done without changing net and node numbers...

    Dan,

How did this one ever get to become an RC anyway?

In matters of finding a suitable candidate to fill a vacant *C-seat, lately it often is a matter of "Beggars can't be choosers" ... you have to make-do with whomever still remains ...

You're probably right on all counts. Sheesh. How far things have fallen.

I'm sure you are correct. Kind of a sad state of affairs.

People can be coached ... If someone takes on the job because no-one else is available to do that, then we have to appreciate this.

Another positive thing is that old guys are trickling back in ... not real growth, but enough to conclude that Fidonet still is a thing.
