• Assertions of Facts

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to David Drummond on Wed Feb 17 00:28:40 2021
    Hello David,

Get real.  Thats Lee and his bull.

Not bull. Just reporting the facts. Such as they are.

There are no facts, only opinions ... at least that's what I think.

I am shocked. Truly shocked. A man of your intellect, believing
such nonsense. Everybody knows there are only facts. And assertions
of facts. Nothing else matters, as figments of the imagination do
not count. For your reading pleasure, here is an excerpt from a
book written very long ago, in England, well before any of us were
    even alive -

If God be a fact, there must certainly come theology out of that fact.
As geology grows out of the fact with which it deals, so does theology
grow out of a fact. Of all the errors of the time there cannot be a
greater absurdity than a religion without theology, for every religion
teaches our obligations to a higher being. If there be a God, there
must be a theology. I will ask you what is this creed of Christendom?
It is nearly all the assertion of facts:

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and
in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell, the third day he
rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the
right hand of God the Father Almighty: from thence he shall come to
judge the quick and the dead.”

All these assertions of facts you may say are not facts; but if they
be facts, you are bound to think rightly about them. You are bound to
think right about them under penalties, but no more so than as to other
facts. You are as much bound to think right as to the fact of a God
    as to any other fact.

~ Charles Bradlaugh, "Christianity in Relation to Freethought,
    Scepticism, and Faith", p. 10

So. There you go. God is a fact. Or at least an assertion of facts.
If I am God, would I know? You do realize "I think, therefore I am"
does not apply just to mere mortals ...

Sorry. That must have been somebody else. From another time.
And another century. Maybe even from another universe. Assuming
    he/she/it exists or ever existed.
