I occasionally have a bad thought about something or someone

    Bloody censorship - it's everywhere!

Thinking before one speaks isn't censorship. It's simply common sense.

    Hello Jeff,

    A truly most horrific thought.

And you still felt the irresistable urge to spread that
"truly most horrific thought" to others?

Why not? It's the truth. You and others might not like it.
But it's the truth. As I see it.

The truth? Our your truth? To me that's simply called an opinion.
It's only when people try to make their opinion look or sound like
the truth or the reality that I get concerned.

I occasionally have a bad thought about something or someone
and even about people on Fidonet once in awhile. But I try to
use better judgement and resist the temptation to post such
    thoughts.

Why? Nancy Pelosi said she prays for the president. So did I.
Is that what upsets you? The fact that people pray for the president?

I would be more concerned about what she prayed for regarding Trump.

Roy Witt did not mind speaking his own mind.
Donald Trump also does not mind speaking his own mind.
Even Joe Biden likes to speak his own mind.
So why shouldn't I and others do the same?

I have no problem with people offering their opinion. Opinions aren't
facts, or truths, or a reality. They are simply someone's thoughts on
a subject. We all usually have an opinion on almost everything. The
point that I was making was that everyone should put thought into what
they think should be said or if it's worth saying.

I have failed to do that on occasion. Then after the fact I read what
I wrote and think. Dang, I should have kept my mouth shut.

I pray he does not get sick.
I pray nobody else gets sick.

I totally agree Lee. I hear that the UK prime minister is in critical
care in a London hospital with the Covid-19 virus. I sincerely hope
    that he gets well soon.

I wish the coronavirus would go away and that nobody would have to
die. But we all know there is a difference between fantasy and
    reality.

Fantasy is what we wish would happen. Reality is what actually happens
and what we are left to deal with.

I do not wish anybody dead. Not even my worst enemy.
I wish everyone in the whole world was in perfect health,
each and every day of their lives. But that is not the
way it is in the real world. And I doubt it ever will be.

In a perfect world yes. But then theres that reality thing again. :)

But the wish will always be the same.

It's when we stop wishing for the best that we sometimes end up
    settling for the worst.

    Jeff

Thats where we differ I guess. We are all free to say what we choose.
Saying and being able to say what one chooses is to me the basis of
free speech. We are free to choose or NOT to choose to say what we
think and feel. Could be we differ on simple semantics.

Yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre and see what happens.

If there is (or never was) a real fire, the person who yelled
"Fire!" will be in big doo-doo. Probably spend lots of quality
time hauling rocks or some other activity at the local funhouse.

Yell "Rape!" in a crowded theatre and see what happens.

Even if no real rapist is anywhere around, the person who yelled
"Rape!" will be protected by everyone, and all will be well.

Too many people, media, politicians are yelling fire. Too many supposed
facts and numbers are being given or force fed to the public. Many times
only part of the truth is being stated. People are using this time of
stress, fear and concern to tell the public what they are suppose to
believe and who they are supposed to blame. Same crap different day.

Running the numbers (statistical analysis done properly) reveals
a far different story than what we have been told in regards to
the mortality rate of COVID-19. Seems the real numbers are much
closer to that of the seasonal flu. Studies of Santa Clara County
show the mortality rate of COVID-19 as being 0.2% - which would
be only a tad bit more than the seasonal flu rate of 0.1%.

How many newspapers would be sold if a novel virus was found only
to kill a few more people than the seasonal flu? Would the entire
country be shut down as a result?

    Sources on request.
