    Hi Daryl!

    More Information about the FidoGazette:

Fidogazette is published by Janis Kracht, Editor.

I thought it had disappeared, as there hadn't been any updates to the
IFDC website, and I hadn't seen anything in my inbound files on it in
    nearly 2 months.

Nah, just a little busy lately, sorry about that. Things are more settled now so I can continue with it. :)

    Take care,
    Janis

    Janis,

I thought it had disappeared, as there hadn't been any updates to the
IFDC website, and I hadn't seen anything in my inbound files on it in
    nearly 2 months.

Nah, just a little busy lately, sorry about that. Things are more
settled now so I can continue with it. :)

I know about life outside the BBS.

I had a car wreck in early January, and with all the hassle and expense
(not to mention a mere pittance on the insurance), finances (or lack
thereof) made it look like my BBS days were over. However, things are
looking a bit better in that regard now. They paid the $9100 chiropractic
bill, but otherwise, I got screwed on cost. Yet, I had to take the money,
    or I would've been overdrawn.

Besides the car issues, a device in one of the toilet tanks malfunctioned, overflowing and flooding both bathrooms. Since I live here alone, I had the water shut off for the offending toilet, but they tore out both bathroom
sinks and cabinets...plus tore up the walls and floors to mitigate the water damage...and the doors were removed. So, it gives a new meaning to the saying "Home alone is where you can poop with the door open". :P

I've got to pay $1000 deductible on the insurance, but I may end up getting new floors, new sinks, new cabinets, and new toilets. The kitchen table has become my medicine cabinet (I had to dig through boxes to find the stuff).

The battery on my keyless door lock failed, and I had to call an emergency locksmith to get me in the house...that was $165.

Then, I went to move an uprooted dead tree, but one branch snapped back, nearly gouging out my right eye. I started having blurred and double vision
in the right eye, but it's astigmatism. The eye pressures were lower this
past week (11 in both eyes, instead of 13 in the left and 14 in the right, which is still "normal"), but they're still going to do a glaucoma check
in early June. It cost $125 to get the dead tree cut up and removed.

With a refund of an overpayment to Hospice for my late Mom, plus the COVID-19 stimulus check, my bank account isn't so anemic. However, bills
are already lined out for it...as they say "It's not hard to meet expenses... they're everywhere". :P I even found a dollar bill on the ground in front
of the Post Office this morning...I hope that's a good omen...I'm long
overdue for some good things to happen.

However, I'm not driving outside of central Arkansas anymore...the long rides or drives are too hard on me. Never mind the speed demons on the interstate highways, and the bumper crop of potholes. I saw a meme awhile
back where "the pothole repair truck got devoured by a pothole". <G>

I got my first COVID-19 shot today...I'll get another one in 3 weeks.
They lifted the mask mandate in Arkansas, and opened up COVID-19 shots
to anyone 16 and older. With a 3 week time between the 2, I think by
May 14, I should be "in the clear".

However, with all the stuff outside the BBS, I've had precious little
time to do any work with it...except logging on every few days to read
QWK Mail...and to update the ham radio and weather related items. I was
hoping to do work on reviving 2 message networks, but I need to get the plumbing issues at the house fixed first.

I'm glad I thought earlier that life had "returned" to normal (whatever that is <gri>)... because now we have a more serious problem here but things look like they will work out... I hope.

I know about life outside the BBS.

Yes, I see below that you surely do... :(

I would have said "bumper crop of a--holes" lol There seem to be a bunch of them around here these days but then Cornell University is in session now so that makes sense...

I'm due for the 2nd next week, Ron got his 2nd already. We won't be doing any traveling for obvious reasons.. not yet.

Good luck with the plumbing stuff, no fun I know :(

Normal is a 6 letter word...just like work is a 4 letter word (guess I
need to go wash my mouth out, or clean the keyboard <G>).

Yes, I see below that you surely do... :(

Things looked very bleak 3 weeks ago. At least I don't have to pay income taxes on the annuity my brother and I got after our Mom's death in August, 2019. But, that money has gone to pay other critical bills.

    I hope so, Daryl!

I do, too. The hobbies weren't even a diversion anymore.

back where "the pothole repair truck got devoured by a pothole". <G>

I would have said "bumper crop of a--holes" lol There seem to be a
bunch of them around here these days but then Cornell University is in session now so that makes sense...

We have those on the roads here, potholes or otherwise. <G> Folks are
farding (putting on makeup <G>) while driving (that IS the defintion of
it <G>)...or texting while driving. They have a deal now where if it's determined you were texting while driving, and caused a wreck, you will
pay, big time, in more ways than one.

Some would also say eating and drinking while driving is distracting.
Along that line, I don't drink and drive, but I swig at stoplights. <G>

I'm due for the 2nd next week, Ron got his 2nd already. We won't be
doing any traveling for obvious reasons.. not yet.

As long as I don't have any reactions to the second one, I'll be happy.
Some say it depends on one's age, and other medical conditions (I have at
least 40 of them), whether or not you have a reaction. But, a large amount
of people in Arkansas are taking the first shot, but skipping the second
one. I'd rather be 90% protected than 80% protected. Besides, the new shot
for the Shingles vaccine required 2 doses 3 weeks apart.

As a side note, if you've ever had the chicken pox, you have the shingles virus inside of you...and it's very painful if you get it. But, it reminds
me of a cute joke. I may have posted this before, but it's still cute. <G>

This guy goes into this clinic and is asked what he needs to see the
doctor. When asked why, he says "I've got the shingles".

Well, no 2 hour wait in the waiting room for him...you'd think he was
having a cardiac arrest in the ER, and they were rushing him back there!!
And, no 30 minute wait for the doctor...he's in to see the patient in
record time. The exchange goes like this:

    Doctor: What's wrong?
    Patient: I have the shingles.
Doctor: How long have you had them?
    Patient: Since this morning.

After looking him over, the doctor says he sees no evidence of such.
The patient replies "They're outside in the truck...where do you want
    them??". <G>

Good luck with the plumbing stuff, no fun I know :(

At least I have a hole to go to. :P Since they had to tear out the
floors, sinks, cabinets, and doors...the tagline below takes on a
    whole new meaning. :P
