    Do you have relatives in the Netherlands ?

    you know i don't... do you?

    Then why do you persist in explaining to overybody what
    everybody already knows?

    why do you ask irrelevent questions? ;)

    I don't even see a question at the beginning of my interventions re: this matter ... just a statement.

    Anyway, I didn't hear no...

    I've never ruled out adding other formats, or porting to other OS platforms, or trying lobster or watching Game of Thrones for the first time.

    My daughter has zero interest in any tech stuff I do.

    As old as I am I have a 10 year old female unit still in the house

    At 10 years old I was into the Vic20... heavily. Until I got the Tandy 1000.

    Both forms of 4D? I thought there was only one 4D and domains are 5D.

    My daughter is 8, and we've been having fun with building simple Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects.
    They use Scratch (whatever happened to GWBasic, LOGO and Turing?!?) at school so the concepts are not too foreign.

    I should dust off my old VIC and let her have a go with it. :)

    Nobody in my family during my childhood was ever "tech"... nothing, nada.

    Had to learn everything about computers and electronics on my own.

    There is this fantastic emulator I messed around with, forget the name at the moment. Its the one that actually emulates everything Commodore. Pet, vic, C64, 128.

    remember that zones may or may not be used... when not used, one's default zone is assumed...

    1D = node number only
    2D = net/node
    3D = zone:net/node *OR* net/node.point
    4D = zone:net/node.point *OR* net/node.point@domain
    5D = zone:net/node.point@domain

    The Vic20 was my first computer, too. True story.. I won it in a Mother's Day essay contest back when I was 10 or 11 years old. It sat in my closet for months as at the time I had no interest in computers.

    One rainy day I decided to break it out and mess around with it.. The rest is history..

    Same here: first computer, a Vic20. Never had a floppy drive for it - typed in BASIC programs from magazines, such as BYTE, and occassionally tried to save to a tape drive - usually unsuccessfully. But it begat a couple of Apple IIs and a Timex Sinclair which eventually begat a PC-XT clone and well.. you know where that story goes.

    Other people I knew at the time had the C64, or an Apple 2, or an Amiga... maybe a PC or Tandy. All of them thumbed their noses at the Vic20 as just
    a toy but I was sooooo stubbornly loyal to it because it was just fun to make this thing do something with 3k of base memory and a tape drive. Countless hours spent.

    When I found out that someone wrote a Doom port; THAT to me is a true loyal grand-master programmer who used that system to create a work of art.

    Lots of Demoscene stuff was impressive too... using undocumented interrupts and elaborate calls to the graphics chip.
