The last few days I'm relegated to taking a taxi to get home and get back into town.

Thurs evening, Fri morning and evening taxi rides were $20 flat rate, between both taxi businesses. I can tolerate that. But this morning my ride into town was metered.. and ended up being $26. Slowing down behind slow traffic did not help. WTF. I’m going to have ask the driver to simply let me out at the $20 point.

    August,

Have you been in a taxi cab in San Fran or worse yet
Jamaica? In both states I needed serious hard alchohol
    after the cab rides ;)

Hey! Good to hear from you. I know someone who *just* came
back from Jamacia. She was practically "stuck" there since the
covid shit started! REALLY. It has been over a YEAR, and she
just got back after a long stretch of lockdowns, cancelled
flights, etc. Crazy. I bet she's completely broke now.

I'll ask her about the taxis in Jamacia. Sounds like they can
be a nervewracking experience to say the least.

I would think if a government kept her from coming back or leaving, they would be obligated for the expenses? That sounds horrible to be stuck in Jamacia for a year, especially with little to no money, as I imagine her job wouldn't pay her to not be able to work?

Oh yeah, 90mph on coastal roads crazy rides.

I worked in SF for years and loved the cab culture. I think it's
    different when you're a local.

Oh man ..... glad someone does ... I just remember them jumping the hills at high speed without being able to see what was on the other side of the traffic signal .. it was insanity for me :)
