On one of the D64 sites I came across "Donkey Kong 2016." I tried it out and WOW, it's like the best demo makers decided to make a game. The graphics and sound match the original arcade better than anything I've seen..not bad for a decades-old computer.

So my question...are there any other contemporary-made games for the C64? There is also "Ghosts 'N Goblins 2015" that is every bit as frustrating as the original arcade game was. But it looks really good, and plays as well as the original.

Yes look up the 8-bit guy on youtube. He wrote a few games and apps for the c64 recently and, if memory serves, it was the first RTS for the c64.

i'm currently awaiting my c64 from ebay. I'm going to build a rig of original hardware and began brushing up on assembly last week. I intend to create a new game for the platform
and will be recruiting help along the way.

There have been some commercial ones at least but I can't remember

I also remember someone did the original (1990 release) Prince of Persia
for the C64. I think even played briefly it in Vice emulator. The game
actually needs a special cartridge to run as I recall.

The Prince of Persia conversion by Andreas Varga (Mr. SID) requires the EasyFlash cartridge. This uses Flash memory to provide a bigger capacity, and allows rapid access to the data. There have been many great titles converted to EasyFlash, cutting down
multiloads and even improving old games (as was done with Speedball Duology and IK+ Ultimate)

Whoah...thank you for that, I will definitely check this out. Was this done by one of the Ultima Dragons? Awesome...I was briefly a member back in the 90's while we waited for Ultima IX to not appear.

I recall there was a total remake of Ultima V using the Dungeon Siege engine but I never got far enough to actually play it...I've been wanting to replay that particular part of the series for a while now.
