• New interest in retro gaming

From Daniel@1:340/7 to All on Sun Aug 4 01:01:54 2019
    Folks

Just got back into bbs'ing only recently and also thanked the sysop for keeping his hobby alive. I'm inquiring on possibly purchasing a vintage c64 and, while searching ebay, came across a
variety of them in various states of conditions.

What would be a fair price for a working system with the drives and all the cables in US dollars?

IMO that depends on the condition. If you are good at fixing stuff
(mostly soldering) you could get a broken machine for $10 or $20. You
also need replacement parts (chips) then. One in good working condition
might start at $150 and above.

I may visit one of your meetings. What's the nearest general aviation airport from your meeting place?

Fresno-Yosemite International is airport for commercial flights, but for general aviation, that would be the Fresno Chandler Executive Airport. Seen in the movie, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"!

Chandler ok. I own a plane so I'd fly down and take an uber or or ask someone to pick me up.

Oh, would you come down on Saturday before the meeting and/or depart on Monday after the meeting? If so, we can arrange hotel accommodations for you.
We're probably moving the meeting to Sunday, August 25, due to other events getting in the way of our usual Sunday date. And we'll have a C64 waiting for you!

If I can make it, i have a good friend who lives in fresno i'll just crash at his house. no problemo.

That's IF i can make it. That's a weekend family is flying out to europe and on multiple flights so i'll
be driving to SF a few times. Didn't realize it synced with existing plans. I may be able to do a
    one=dayer.

I re-read your messge. If I can come, I'd fly in on Sunday morning, attend the meeting, and then fly home that night. It's a
    short hop from Sacramento.

Anyway, it is looking less likely I can come, but if you,or whoever has the c64, can hold it for me, we can arrange something.
Fresno is a >3 hr drive.

If you're going to have a meeting again soon, I'll be flying down. Things are back to normal. i'd fly down for the day, not staying overnight. It's a short flight from Sacramento. I flew to Reedley last weekend to see my mother in law and that was an hour with a strong headwind.

    Hi, Daniel,

I don't expect us having an in-person meeting until July. That goes for the Fresno Commodore User Group
