• Goodbye, Felix

From Sean Dennis@1:18/200 to All on Wed Feb 24 16:02:56 2021
    Hello, everyone.

I had to put my beloved Felix to sleep on February 11. It seems he had a tumor and the poor kitty was starting to really suffer. He was so exhausted that he could only take two steps and then collapse. Towards the end he couldn't make it to the litterbox that was less than a foot away from him.

Thankfully, through the kindness and generousity of strangers and friends, his vet bills and final expenses were paid for. I had his body cremated and have his ashes in a beautiful bronzed tin and a plaster pawprint to remind me. He's no longer by my side but always in my heart.

This was very difficult for me but I am getting through it. I miss having him to come home to and to cuddle up with.

    Later,
    Sean

Been there my friend, there like your kids so very hard
This was very difficult for me but I am getting through it. I miss having him to come home to and to cuddle up with.
I put our dog down she was 13 years old and have tumors inside and
outside couldnt see. It broke my heart, I cried like a baby. So the
only thing I can say is she's in my heart and always will be. Just
like you Felix. Sorry we have to go threw this but it happens.

My deepest condolences to you! (I hope this is written correctly)

I also had to put my first cat, Yumosch, to sleep in 2018. She probably
also had tumors and was 15 years old. Before we got her, she probalby
didn't have a good life so we wanted to offer her a good place and much
    love.
And I learned so much from her, especially as it was my first cat and she made bad experiences with other humans.
But I learned how to respect her correctly and to "read" when she wanted
my company and when not. And after some struggle and some bites, we came along very good :)
I also have her ashes in a nice urn.

So I know what you are going through. Feel hugged!

Cats communicate just fine. You just have to learn how to speak their language. :)

I also have her ashes in a nice urn.

My parents have put Felix's urn on their fireplace mantle so he is in a position of honor in the house.

So I know what you are going through. Feel hugged!

Thank you, I appreciate it. :)

Or "dogs come when called...cats have answering machines". Of course,

Exactly! And as I've learned from our current cats, it's individual to the specific cat :)

My parents have put Felix's urn on their fireplace mantle so he is in a position of honor in the house.

That's great! I got a "cuddle clone" of Yumosch as a present from my wife some years ago when she (the cat) was still alive, it is a plush toy
custom made from photographs of her. Her urn rests now next to the "clone"
in a display cabinet in my room.

So I know what you are going through. Feel hugged!

    Anna,

Exactly! And as I've learned from our current cats, it's individual to the specific cat :)

My late Mom had one of these "artificial cats" that would meow and purr,
if the light in front of its eyes went dark (shadow), etc. If you tried to rough handle it, it would "growl and spit".

But, it ran on batteries...yet, there was no worry of feeding, litter box cleaning, fleas and ticks, vet bills, etc.

What I'd like to find is one of these "artificial dachshunds", that would react to light by barking, wagging it's tail, etc. My late wife (who has
been gone nearly 14 years now) got me partial to dachshunds.

These can also be really nice. My wife is also interested in one of these "therapeutic seals" that appeared in Japan some years ago. But they were really expensive back then...

I've lost many over time. I am the oddball who adopts older medical issue dogs that no one else will.

Last year we lost Cash, dog age 14. Then Iowna, blind (Glaucoma, adopted 2 years after blind), age 17. Then Daisy-chan, cat age 25. It was a rough year as Cash and Daisy had been here since 2007 and Iowna since 2014.

Yes, eventually it does happen. But the joy of having them eventually recovers. JUst takes a bit for the hurt to subsume.

I am starting to put away Felix's durable supplies. Cleaning them, packaging them up to put away for another kitty or two someday. I couldn't deal with that until recently. It does hurt but I'm sure Felix would want me to have another kitty someday.

My daughter had a doberman. His name was Harvey. She came home on day saying she had a puppy and wanted to keep him. I said ok, she was a grown adult and knew the responsibility of caring for a pet. Well, that was some puppy. I came down the stairs and there was this huge dog with his butt on my couch and his front paw on the floor. I said that's no puppy, that's a horse.

Needless to say Harvey won me over and we had 13 years with him, the gentlest and loving dog I ever encountered. He also, got sick, had great difficulty in getting up from laying down and you could tell he was hurting, He had arthritis (sp). Long story short, she had to do the same.

We have him in an Urn and he is missed everyday.

Harvey we miss ya, be friendly to Felix, as I know you will.

I am sure they are sharing a meal comparing notes about their families. Felix was a good friend and confidant. I do miss him. I hope that when it's time for me to adopt another pet, I can find a bonded pair of kittens. If not, I am sure there will be a senior cat who is just wanting to be loved.
