The Turkish Ministry of Defense has temporarily suspended all C-130 Hercules flights following the crash of a military transport aircraft in Georgia. The aircraft are being inspected as a precaution.
The aircraft crashed on Tuesday during a flight from Azerbaijan to Turkey. All twenty people on board were killed. The cause of the accident is not yet known. The flight data is currently being analyzed using the black box, the Ministry of Defense stated Thursday during a press briefing in Ankara.
The C-130 Hercules is manufactured by the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin. The crashed aircraft was acquired by Turkey from Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has since been modernized. According to the ministry, the aircraft was not carrying any ammunition during the fatal flight.
