    Hey All!

It seems to be working. I might even be so bold to suggest it is the best Fidonet has ever seen. Also it should work fine in termux which means even a lowly smart device should be able to replicate the below. I did test utf-8 on the tablet before the battery died.

Note that it is now being replicated on the EuroPoint.
Nothing like boredom to drive a good idea straight into the
    ground.

Boredom is the true mother of invention.

Note the famous American phrase, "Hold my Beer."

Nicely done on the tagline generator by the way.

    Hallo Maurice!

Nothing like boredom to drive a good idea straight into the
    ground.

That and a pinch of curiousity.

    Hey Charles!

    tagline="$(shuf ~/etc/taglines.list | head -n1 | tr '\r' '\n')"

-={ '<Esc>:read !file ~/etc/taglines.list' starts }=- /home/fidonet/etc/taglines.list: UTF-8 Unicode text, with CR, LF line terminators
    -={ '<Esc>:read !file ~/etc/taglines.list' ends }=-

It works like a charm as demonstrated by the tagline generated below.

    Life is good,

... Weard seteð, se þe wæccendum wereð.
He who guards against the watchmen sets a guard.

So I am guessing that you have the tagline in 2 languages?

    Hallo Charles!

but I'd say likely not directly from Old to Middle English.

Politics. I am guessing that the Normans weren't too keen on preserving Anglo-Saxon culture. The closest I could find to a document containing both old and middle english is the "Peterborough Chronicle". It is all old english except for the last entry which is in an early form of middle english. Not quite what we're looking for but I think it helps to explain the lack of translations of old english works to middle english.
