• My nation, America, took over Congress.

The President of America will not and has not accepted the votes of the American people.

He lost... but continues to try any way he can muster, regardless of its is moral or not, to overturn the results of the election.

Not all of us shunned him in 2016. I accepted that Trump won, regardless of whether the 'left' did or not.

Today the President egged on his supporters to overtake the Congressional Hall. And, they did. They did fall back, and leave has dusk hit. This can be debated, as I think they RETREATED in a better fashion than the left, during the riots and looting that happened in the summertime.

But my Lord... today is crazy. Its so dangerous, for a photograph of some protester to be taken... sitting in the seat of the Vice President of the United States. I'm sure across the world, we look stupid. We look like we're out of control.

    Today was dangerous.

For me, and I'm not angry if you feel differently, this shows that America can't allow themselves to GET HERE ever again. In 2016, I wanted change. I wasn't happy with the previous government. But... we must never again allow ourselves to be duped by a carnival barker.

    Wow.
    Just wow.

Each year we hold elections on election day (Nov 3) and we know precisely who the winners are early in the morning on Nov 4.

But this year, powerful Democrats (members of Joe Biden's political party)
made last-minute changes to their voting procedures which turned "election
day" into "election 2 weeks." On top of that, other Democrats mass-mailed mail-in-ballots (vote from home ballots) to everyone in the whole country, despite the fact that mail-in voting has been restricted (by law) to military members who are deployed overseas, and to disabled Americans (people who can't leave home.)

Liberals will argue that "The votes of the American people should be counted," but there's a double-standard. In a previous election, such as when Barack Obama (Democrat) defeated Mitt Romney (Republican,) there was no Republican movement to extend election day, and there was no Republican movement to mass-mail absentee ballots to the entire country "to make sure every voice is heard."

Republicans aren't perfect, but they are unwilling to stoop to such a low level.

Election laws and procedures often change. This is not to guarantee a biden win. It is to make it possible and easy for people to get out and vote.

Thats the disconnect for me. I think yesterdays actions, which were IMO initiated by Donald Trump, were an attempt to TAKE the election... to force a change in the democracy of America - Listen, and I just say this for the argument, if there was fraud - SHOW ME. They haven't.

For me, Trump went beyond ANY... I mean we all can see that he is a [insert your chosen descriptor] but yesterday he turned against America in a big way.

I'm done. It's over. 25th him, impeach him, get the winner of the 2020 election in office ASAP. Is Biden my CHOICE for that office? No; but at this point it cannot be Trump for another moment. It's too dangerous.

I would agree with the first four words of your statement, and they were a legal [and some think moral, honest] move because of the situation the country is in. I don't know, maybe your days are completely normal now - God knows I see it enough when I do venture 'out', but you know we're still REELING in a pandemic and all, right?

Jesus - NO ONE should have voted in person in 2020. Thank God 'the democrats', which should really be typed as 'the majority of counties in America', moved to allow mail-in ballots.

However, there was no 'FRAUD'. There were no 'MILLIONS' [or any amount to change the outcome of the election] of fraudulent votes; We've VERY PATIENTLY waited for proof and offered our courts at LENGTH to the process. [At a length the really makes America look ridiculous and weak to the world, btw..]

It's over. [Thank God.] He lost. [Not a big shocker.]

You over state. At no time were mail in ballots sent to everyone in the country. It varied according to state laws. In some states ballots
were mailed to every registered voter. In other states (e.g. my state)
one had to request a mail in ballot. In all cases no mail-in ballot
would be accepted unless it was from a registered voter.

despite the fact that mail-in voting has been restricted
(by law) to military members who are deployed overseas, and to disabled Americans (people who can't leave home.)

Wrong. There are states that have had vote by mail-in ballots *ONLY*
for years. In other states, who is eligible to vote by mail is due to
state law. This year, many states opened up mail-in balloting due to
the fact that the current Covid pandemic has caused in person balloting dangerous for many people.

No, there is not more to it.

For the first time ever in history, ALL Americans were entitled to mail-in ballot voting. That was unfair to the incumbents around the nation. Suddenly, everyone who's been watching the news all day has a ballot in their hand,
where in all of history, they had to walk or drive to the polls. The abrupt change is not fair to Trump and it's not fair to the 50 or 51% of Americans
    who voted for him.

It's not about fraud, it's about fairness. I think you're a great guy, but it seems like your fine with Trump having an unfair election because you don't like the guy. Keep in mind how many people voted for Trump. If it weren't for all these convenient changes that were made, then you'd possibly be in for 4 more years of Trump.

Let's start the year off right: Instead of battling each other, let's work together for the greater good. I already stated that I plan to vote in your (Democrat) primaries. Mine (Republican) are NOT worth my time.

I think it was FINE to allow mail-in balloting; but I think [this time round... listen the same stuff could happen TO the other side next time..] that sending out ballots to EVERY people in a district was....... a grab at votes for BIDEN.

I have not seen or heard about any Republicans trying to interfere with anelection, but I've seen, experienced, and heard about Democrats doing it.

Listen, theres prolly a bunch we wouldn't agree on... like... I don't think ANYONE should have been voting in person when there was a pandemic going on, in the country. It's more detrimental to MY health for you to have done so...

But I bet I do agree on some things; I don;t think it was right to BLANKET send out ballots to EVERY citizen (God forbid NON-citizens!); I think we should have done NO in-person voting, well.. I'd of allowed it but... I think REGISTERED voters should have gotten mail ins.

However, when you say you don't think republicans would do anything (i.e. like the dems using LEGAL strategies to better their odds of winning.) - thats BS. The republicans would do ANYTHING; even if it were the exact same thing the dems did this election!

Trump has 2 weeks left to serve the term that the American people voted for in 2016. However, despite a little pandemic, house Democrats have nothing better to do than try to scare the American people with a ridiculous "He's
    dangerous!" statement.

He hasn't hurt anyone in 4 years, but over the next 2 weeks he's gonna?

Or they're worried about 2024? Why don't the Democrats have more confidence in themselves? I'm hoping that Biden does an awesome job as president, and if that's the case, then I'll have no choice but to vote Biden in 2024.

That lack of confidence makes my head spin. Is Biden gonna screw us over so terribly by 2023, that we're gonna want him out? If so, then how do these

    Hello Gerhard,

But this year, powerful Democrats (members of Joe Biden's political
party) made last-minute changes to their voting procedures which turned AT>"election day" into "election 2 weeks." On top of that, other Democrats AT>mass-mailed mail-in-ballots (vote from home ballots) to everyone in the AT>whole country, despite the fact that mail-in voting has been restricted AT>(by law) to military members who are deployed overseas, and to disabled AT>Americans (people who can't leave home.)

If there is doubt about the votes being counted correctly, go to court.

Even when there was no doubt, Trump & Co. still went to court.
And lost 50+ times. Without ever getting a single win.

If you think the courts are corrupt, we're back to my suggestion of sending
UNO troups to hold proper elections. However, this usually happens because the _government_ is manipulating the elections, not the opposition.

How did that work out in Belarus?

I think the mass-sending of ballots was a bit much- and while I don't think it causes fraud just from that act, I think that it it was prone to all the issues we're seeing after this election.

If I HAD to pick a side, I'd say that we did the best we could this year under the pandemic that we're living through... but I really hope we think, together, and figure out a smarter way to conduct elections in the future. While I think this vote got a lot more voters to.. vote, I still think we have to make sure the votes are from registered, legal voters and this can't be the best way....

Just recieving mass-mailed envelopes an carte blanche accepting that they are all correct and valid.

    We can do better.

No, there is not more to it.

For the first time ever in history, ALL Americans were entitled to

    what democracy is all about.

That was unfair to the incumbents around the

nation. Suddenly, everyone who's been watching the news all day has a ballot in their hand, where in all of history, they had to walk or
drive to the polls. The abrupt change is not fair to Trump and it's not fair to the 50 or 51% of Americans who voted for him.

Trump did not get 50 or 51% of the vote. He got just under 47%. Biden
    got a bit over 51%.

What about people who don't have cable? Those people (like me) had 5 channels of liberal broadcast news, but I'm a miracle- I don't listen
to their crap. Guys like you and me will read the news on the internet, but not most Americans.

    For sure!

Voting in person really does suck sometimes. It's hardly worth all the
trouble, especially if you're a registered Republican in a Democrat town. "They don't take kindly."

Here's my idea: Allow electronic voting - but make the voter punch in their social security # or their driver's license # (or both) to verify identity and registration status. That way people don't have to get hassled at the polling places, at least not by humans who know your political party affiliation.

How many cases so far? Some 22 million or so? And the numbers

The same party as David Duke, a former grand wizard of the KKK.

The first time I met Duke was at LSU. On the steps of the student
union. He was decked out in full Nazi garb, giving a speech to the
students gathered for a "free speech alley" event. He was much

    Hello Gerhard,

If you think the courts are corrupt, we're back to my suggestion of
sending UNO troups to hold proper elections. However, this usually
happens because the _government_ is manipulating the elections, not the >>> opposition.

How did that work out in Belarus?

What do you mean? There haven't been any UN soldiers, yet.

That may be due to their dear leader having won the last election
by winning 80+% of the vote, with all his opposition being locked up
in prison or going into exile.

    Hello Aaron,

    We can do better.

    For sure!

Voting in person really does suck sometimes. It's hardly worth all the >trouble, especially if you're a registered Republican in a Democrat town.
    "They don't take kindly."

Here's my idea: Allow electronic voting - but make the voter punch in their >social security # or their driver's license # (or both) to verify identity
and registration status. That way people don't have to get hassled at the polling places, at least not by humans who know your political party affiliation.

I have a better idea. Have automatic voter registration.
The moment an individual turns 18, he or she is automatically
registered to vote. That makes it super-simple for everybody.

No need for anybody to go through hoops of trouble. Just turn
18 and your done. How hard can that be?

    Hello Aaron,

I hope that you and the rest of the nation does that. The events of >DS>last Wednesday showed that not everyone is willing to do that.

That was 90 idiots who think life is over because Biden won, or because
Biden allegedly cheated. There's more to election day than the presidential election, and there's more to life than elections.

Those were domestic terrorists, including one who had a gun intending
to kill Speaker Pelosi. Those domestic terrorists knew where their
targets were supposed to be, and fully intended to kill them. Not just
Speaker Pelosi, but also others. The original signed certified copies
of the electoral votes were also a target, which had been kept in
Sen. Duckworth's office. Fortunately, one of her aides retrieved the
certified copies as they were evacuating the Capitol building.

So please. Never call them "rioters" or "idiots" as these people
clearly knew what they were doing. And they did it on orders from
their dear leader - an orange turd who should be charged and brought
to justice himself for his heinous actions.

I know a lot of other conservatives personally,

None of those people were "conservatives". ALL of them are domestic
terrorists who did this country harm. Their actions were dangerous,
    and deadly.

and none of them are immature or careless enough to go smashing windows on
    federal property,

Every single one of them did it on purpose.

or to take a dump on Pelosi's desk.

One of them wanted to shoot her dead, and brought a gun with him
    to do it with.

Not even if the president told them to - which I don't think he did.

    Bull fucking shit.

    Hello Aaron,

A police man has died as a direct result of his actions which formented >DS>the invasion of the Capitol.
There are more than 380,000 people dead from Covid. It did not have
    to
be that bad if he had acted in time.

These 2 things are speculative. I don't believe that you can scientifically >blame either of these on Trump or his supporters as a whole.

The proof is in the pudding. All one has to do is compare the stats
as shown online at various sites. This was a massive failure by Trump,
who always tried to blame others for his own f*ck-ups.

What party were the thugs who invaded the Capitol? Or the ones who >DS>almost kidnaped and executed a state governor?

It doesn't equate to Joe Biden's Antifa or Joe Biden's BLM. They did a lot
more damage than Trump's dummies who broke a window.

This was inciting an insurrection. By the president. That is not
treason, but worse. The man should be tossed out of office and put
in prison for at least the next 20 years - without benefit of parole.

    Hello Aaron,

How can it be "not fair" if everybody gets the chance to vote? The greek >GS>word demokratia means ruling of the people and that's everyone.

It's fair but it's not fair. The 2 pandemics, covid-19 and TDS, worked >together to ensure Biden's victory.

    "Life is not fair." ~JFK

More people voted for Biden than Trump. Millions more. It was not
the pandemic that did Trump in. It was Donald Trump himself.

If we're going to repair a broken Democracy, why start now? Where was "vote
from home" during the 2012 election?

I'm all in favor for voting over the internet.
Or voting with your iphone or other device.
Or whatever other choice one wishes to vote.

Look at it this way -

Government provides, business denies. That is why pro-democracy means
more choices and opportunites rather than less.

It is not speculative that a policeman died as a result of actions of
the mob. It is not speculative that more than 380,000 people have died
of Covid. In the beginning stages, Trump stood on the stage with
experts who said that models predicted as few as 60,000 deaths *IF*
people practiced social distancing, wore masks and avoided crowds. And
then he went on to actively discourage those very safety measures. He

    How?

So my girlfriend and I got into this topic this week... I understand that this time around we reached many more legal voters than we normally would. And I am all for that - I'm all for bringing voters who are otherwise disenfranchised from the voting process, to it. However... I still have some hangup with mass mailing every registered voter a mail-in ballot.

On normal years, unless you request a mail-in ballot, or live in a mail-in only state, you have to physically go in person and vote. You show your ID. You vote. You get checked off, so that you can't vote twice.

I heard your reply that they 'check signatures' but I have heard this disputed in the news... and I DO think we can do better.

In a non-pandemic year, I think the process of in-person voting and mailing to registered voters who show a reason for the mail-in need, is great.

I do think that even in a pandemic, folks should have to raise their hand or otherwise request a mail-in ballot.

If we mass-mail all registered voters, it DOES increase the probability that say 'the man of the house' could mark whatever side they prefer and 'vote' for all in the household, that nursing homes or other similar situations can happen like that... and that there is some middle ground that is better than what we did this year.

That being said, I think we did an awesome thing this year... I just don't like the mass mail-ins. Period.

If it was a coordinated attack, planned by the president, how is it that not a single Demorcrat was injured by thousands of "Republican Rebels?"

Donald Trump was stirring it up, hoping to overturn the election results.

Donald Trumps seditious speech sparked an insurrection. Five people died and I don't know how many were injured or just how much damage was done.

The issue here is not democrats injured or republican rebels.

    Hello Gerhard,

If you think the courts are corrupt, we're back to my suggestion of
sending UNO troups to hold proper elections. However, this usually
happens because the _government_ is manipulating the elections, not >>>>> the opposition.
How did that work out in Belarus?
What do you mean? There haven't been any UN soldiers, yet.

That may be due to their dear leader having won the last election
by winning 80+% of the vote, with all his opposition being locked up
in prison or going into exile.

So far, we're only at the step of not accepting the vote, damaning new ones
under international supervision and imposing sanctions. Sanctions wouldn't work for the USA, they call it tarriffs and impose them on themselves. :-)

President Barack Obama imposed sanctions on Russia after it invaded
a portion of Ukraine (Crimea) and illegally annexed that territory as
its own. Those were not tariffs. And have never been lifted.

    Hello Gerhard,

Voting in person really does suck sometimes. It's hardly worth all the >AT>trouble,

You're free to move to a nation where you don't need to vote. ;-)

It used to be that folks in the old USSR had no choice but
to vote for the candidate of the politburo's choice. But Vladimir
Putin has changed all that. Now the folks in Russia have no choice
but to vote for the candidate of his own choice.

Here's my idea: Allow electronic voting - but make the voter punch in
their social security # or their driver's license # (or both) to verify AT>identity and registration status.

    How do you achieve secrecy?

By having the secret police count the secret ballots.

How do you know the software isn't buggy?

    By debugging the buggy software.

How do voters know if their vote was counted?

By watching the watchers who watch the watchers.

How do voters know that it's impossible to add some votes with a "magic
    number"?

By being the only one who knows the "magic number".

How do you make sure, voters trust your system?

By making it my very own system.

to kill Speaker Pelosi. Those domestic terrorists knew where their >LL>targets were supposed to be, and fully intended to kill them. Not just

    They actually didn't know.

Yes, they did. The man who sat in Pelosi's desk brought a gun

    Hello Paul,

Just recieving mass-mailed envelopes an carte blanche DS> PL>
accepting that they are all correct and valid. DS> DS> They do not carte blanche accept that they are all correct and valid.
They check the signature on the outside envelope and verify against
    the
    voter roles.
    We can do better.
    How?

So my girlfriend and I got into this topic this week... I understand that
this time around we reached many more legal voters than we normally would. And I am all for that - I'm all for bringing voters who are otherwise disenfranchised from the voting process, to it. However... I still have
some hangup with mass mailing every registered voter a mail-in ballot.

Some states have only vote by mail as a means for voting.
And none plan on returning to in-person voting only as a means
of voting any time soon. People like the convenience, and not
having to go out in inclement weather in order to vote person.

We have plenty of safeguards in place in order to make it
virtually impossible for voter fraud to happen. Once a person
has been registered to vote, what more does one need?

On normal years, unless you request a mail-in ballot, or live in a mail-in
only state, you have to physically go in person and vote. You show your ID. You vote. You get checked off, so that you can't vote twice.

Why should anybody be forced to vote in person? That is a very
anti-democratic way of doing things. The more options people have,
the more democratic this country is. So why not promote democracy
by being pro-democratic rather than anti-democratic?

Make it the normal for every state to have mail-in ballots and
early voting allowed for all elections. Sure, in-person voting should
also be available. But that can be regarded as an option by states.

I heard your reply that they 'check signatures' but I have heard this
disputed in the news... and I DO think we can do better.

There are ways that 'check signatures' can be abused. Some folks
have poor handwriting. Some lawyers try to argue that a signature
of an individual is a forged signature, trying to get that vote
thrown out (a means of voter suppression).

In a non-pandemic year, I think the process of in-person voting and mailing
to registered voters who show a reason for the mail-in need, is great.

Mail-in voting and early voting should be the normal in all
elections, regardless of whether or not there is a pandemic.
In-person voting can always be kept as an option, but there
is no necessity for making that mandatory.

I do think that even in a pandemic, folks should have to raise their hand or
    otherwise request a mail-in ballot.

Why? Some states have only mail-in ballots and early voting
available. So why force folks to have to raise their hand in
order to request a ballot? That is anti-democratic. Let's
be the democracy this country was always meant to be by being
pro-democratic rather than anti-democratic. Certainly that
    makes more sense.

If we mass-mail all registered voters, it DOES increase the probability that
say 'the man of the house' could mark whatever side they prefer and 'vote' for all in the household, that nursing homes or other similar situations
can happen like that... and that there is some middle ground that is better than what we did this year.

You are being silly. Voter registration is for individuals only.
Entire families cannot be registered as a unit. And people can only
vote as individuals, not as entire families or groups of people.

When filing taxes, one can claim to be 'head of household'.
But that is not the same as voting for everybody in the family.
    What silly nonsense.

What would be great is to totally do away with using age as
a factor as to who should be allowed to vote. It used to be age
21 was when people could vote, even though one had to be age 25
in order to hold a seat in Congress. Then the age was lowered
to 18, since people that age could be drafted and sent to war.
But why should there be an age minimum at all? We have no age
maximum, with old folks who cannot remember their own name
being able to vote. So why not children? Or newborn babies?
Or babies still in the womb?

If we are a democracy, we should go whole hog. Let everybody vote!

That being said, I think we did an awesome thing this year...

It was a start in becoming a better democracy than it was before.

I just don't like the mass mail-ins. Period.

The more options people have, the more democratic this country is.

That's like saying "The American people deserve that because of Trump's actions."

Actually, it would not be a normal function for Congress. It should

    Hello Aaron,

Six people are dead, including two capitol police officers. Trump
has blood on his hands, and everybody knows it.

Everybody wants that to be the truth.

The truth? What is the truth? You wouldn't know the truth
if it bit you in the ass.

Trump told them to storm the Capitol building. So they did.
    That is inciting an insurrection.

    That's twisting his words.

The articles of impeachment filed against Trump spell it out
clearly, for all to understand. Read it. Only four pages long.

I don't believe he said "storm the Capitol building." "Go down there and
storm the Capitol building." Nice try!

That is what he said, although not in those exact words.

Joe Biden hitmen wearing MAGA hats? I don't think so.

You're hilarious! Like someone can't put an enemy hat on to blend in?

Shopify has permanently banned Donald Trump, meaning his online
stores can no longer sell his products (such as MAGA hats).

    Hello Aaron,

Why have age restrictions at all? We have automatic voter registration >LL>now, so why wait until someone turns 18? We can do it the moment a
baby is born. That way, everybody in America will have the right to >LL>vote, with no more age discrimination. What do you say about that?

Sounds good! My kids know who to vote against.

We have to change our ways, and become a pro-life America.
And that means being pro-life for everybody. As such, we cannot
discriminate against those who are not quite here yet in the
real world, by allowing them to have their own say while they
are still in their mother's womb awaiting their arrival here.
That means pregnant women should be allowed to vote by proxy.
One vote per unborn baby. Those carrying quintuplets would
get six votes - one for mommy, and five for babies to be.

    Hello Paul,

You are being silly. Voter registration is for individuals only.
Entire families cannot be registered as a unit. And people can only >LL>vote as individuals, not as entire families or groups of people.
When filing taxes, one can claim to be 'head of household'.
But that is not the same as voting for everybody in the family.
    What silly nonsense.

If you don't think those instances arise, much more than if folks vote in
person, I think you're being silly.

I seriously doubt anybody has even tried to vote for an entire
family, much less accomplishing the impossible feat.

Dad is 55 years old and Pro Trump, but has a 19year old daughter and a 22
year old son. His 57 year old wife also votes; Dad is a bastard and used to make the kids pick their own switches for whippings. When the ballots come in, Dad checks them all and sends them off. That happens. As does
shenanigans at nursing homes, mentally assisted homes, etc etc etc. Its
just something that we don't need to ADD. Why would we?

Fortunately for us, we do not live in a banana republic.

I'd be more apt to be fine with it if we all voted online and used 2FA with
the individuals cell phones. IMO thats more safegaurded than PAPER ballots. Ick.

Most people who voted by mail or voted early used paper ballots.
And also many who voted in person on election day. For states that
used electronic voting, having paper backup ballots is a must as
    a safeguard against voter fraud.

    Its so 1980.

This is now, with many more options being available for voting.
We should go further, and increase those options, as well as expand
the voting rights to include ALL Americans, including those who are
    doing time in prison.

Show me evidence of Trump having planned an attack on the Capitol - that's
    all I need to see.

    Now I read more...

They say he "incited" and they explained what the rogue protesters did. But most of the protesters were peaceful, especially compared to Democrat protesters. Do you remember this conversation?

Maybe the police in DC are racist & they didn't suspect a group of white Trump supporters at the Capitol, so they let their guard down? Shame on them if that' the case! Because any Democrat will tell you that "the police are racist."

Law enforcement failed when they can't keep a group of protesters out. You
were in the military - you must know how to secure a zone. That is a major HR issue! There is shame on at least 4 different levels of law enforcement in DC. Do you not see that picture?

I agree with this. Maybe to clarify; I'm not against getting more LEGAL citizens to vote, closing the gap in voter suppression or allowing folks whom its too hard or costly to get to a voting place to doso.

I just don't want 'live' ballots sent to EVERY [registered voting] American. I think that those 'live' ballots, without that registered voter on the other end requesting it... to THAT address, at THIS election, is smart. I think doing THAT allows for the BS to happen; and I think the BS *does* happen.

However, even the small safegaurd that you described in your area is fine. I WANT more Americans to vote... problem is, theres so many counties and municipalities and DIFFERENCES, that some problem that happened in one county in some small area gets all the coverage and folks [like me] think in their heads that this is how it happened EVERYWHERE.

I'm against 'live' ballots being blanket mailed. Regardless, I think THIS election was legal and valid. But I want to do better if we choose to continue using mail-in voting in a larger way in America. I'm not blanket against it, either.

There were well more than 100 who broke into the building. The figur of about 100 is just those who have been identified and arrested so f More to come.

The impeachment seems pointless to me.

In other words you are saying that Trump and all future Presidents
should be given a free pass to incite insurrection without any penalty? IMO, impeachment of Trump serves to send notice that what he did is not acceptable. To be silent sends notice that what he did can be tolerated without consequences at any time in the future. In addition,
impeachment would prevent him from seeking any federal office in the future.

And furthermore, correct me if I'm wrong, if an impeachment is successful he can't serve in government again... I believe thats what needs to happen for Trump. I think we made a mistake voting in [lol] a non-politician extremist - and now that we got the result of that, we must follow thru.

And, government should still handle the needs of the citizens beyond impeachment. One doesn't cancel out or stop the other.

All the stuff that Trump did wrong in his "weak response" to covid - why don't we fix some of that stuff? All international travel should closed, but it's not. Why don't Congress close international travel t help fight covid? Because we're too busy with impeachment?

Trump could close international travel (if it is not already closed).

I think we still have a long way to go with covid. People don't understand that these vaccines.. are more like a flu vaccine in the fact that you'd need to get them once a year [or so] and they would have to be tweaked for future versions of Corona. This vaccination process isn't a one-and-done type of thing. Coronavirus is respiratory, more like the flu than polio.

There have been complaints about the vaccine distribution - we don't need a president to dream that up on his own - why doesn't Congress write a bill? Impeachment?

Actually, it would not be a normal function for Congress. It should

There has been cases, especially between healthcare professionals that have been vaccinated and diagnosed positive a few days later.

That is what happened in my state. They mailed an application for a

The argument against mail-in ballots is that more Republicans tend to vote at polling locations instead of mailing in their ballots. Democrats tends to prefer the opportunity to sit at home and review their ballots and submit them via the mail. This was proven in this election when traditional Republican states or those that carried Trump four years ago went Democratic (at least for the President).

The argument against mail-in ballots is that more Republicans tend to
vote at polling locations instead of mailing in their ballots.

That Republican preference for voting at polling locations was possibly
because of the words of their supreme leader who kept claiming that mail
    in ballots were not safe.

Democrats tends to prefer the opportunity to sit at home
and review their ballots and submit them via the mail.

Because it was easier, and because it was less risky with respect to
Covid. Since I am in a high risk category, I would feel very hesitant
to go to a walk up polling place, especially since there would be many
people there who would not be observing safe ruls of mask and distance.

This was proven in this election when traditional
Republican states or those that carried Trump four years
ago went Democratic (at least for the President).

The real proof was that the early returns from polling stations seemed
to be mostly Republican or split, but then the mail in ballots were

The American people don't care about Trump anymore.

    That's a mistake, a big mistake.

We want to move forward, but Nancy & Chuck want to stigmatize the Republican party for something that Trump did

Yes, Trump did it with the support of a large part of the republican party. It is because of what Trump did that Nancy & Chuck *must* do what they are doing. The same as they *had* to do what they did when Trump was impeached the first time.

The USA is a nation of law and order after all.

which is also something that Biden did. Biden doesn't care about impeaching Trump, because he's not a player hater.

Biden had nothing to do with any of this and has no role to play in it.

    The more options, the better.

Now we know that all Americans can and should expect to vote by mail.

That is an option that all states should have. Not just some.
Both mail-in ballots and early voting, through election day.

    Re: Re: Mail In ballots
By: Dale Shipp to Brian Klauss on Fri Jan 15 2021 01:55 am

The argument against mail-in ballots is that more Republicans tend to vote at polling locations instead of mailing in their ballots.

That Republican preference for voting at polling locations was possibly because of the words of their supreme leader who kept claiming that mail
    in ballots were not safe.

Agreed. Trump's handlers knew that Liberals prefer mail-in ballots and that they tend to sway elections to the Democrats. By creating a narrative that demonizes mail-in voting, and getting the FOX News, OANN, and Newsmax talking heads to "wash, rinse, and repeat" the talking point, you get people screaming that mail-in voting is fraudulent (except that Trump mails his votes, but that is safe).

Democrats tends to prefer the opportunity to sit at home
and review their ballots and submit them via the mail.

Because it was easier, and because it was less risky with respect to
Covid. Since I am in a high risk category, I would feel very hesitant
to go to a walk up polling place, especially since there would be many people there who would not be observing safe ruls of mask and distance.

Agreed, again. I am also a high risk category. The idea of going to a polling place or waiting in a line that would make patrons of Disneyland scream, I'll stick with my mail-in ballot.

This was proven in this election when traditional
Republican states or those that carried Trump four years
ago went Democratic (at least for the President).

The real proof was that the early returns from polling stations seemed
to be mostly Republican or split, but then the mail in ballots were
giving results of 75% or more for Democratic candidates.

Notice how the narrative changed. Trump screaming, "We won! We won!" the night of the election. All of a sudden, the mail-in ballots start coming in, "We won! All these voters are fraudulent. Voter dumping. Fraud."

I like my mail-in ballot. I actually take it to one of my
county's drop off boxes (we have like 20 of them).

    That is what I did.

Excellent. I wish all the states would go mail-in. Not only does it give voters a chance to review the blue books, it also gives them a chance to decide, discuss, and defend who and what they are voting for. I've had countless discussions with my wife and children regarding a specific law on the ballot. These discussions have made me or them rethink their vote. You can't do that at a polling place.

    Hello Paul,

I think we still have a long way to go with covid. People DS>PL>don't
understand that these vaccines.. are more like a flu DS>PL>vaccine in the fact that you'd need to get them once a year DS>PL>[or so] and they would have to be tweaked for future DS>PL>versions of Corona. This vaccination process isn't a one-
and-done type of thing. Coronavirus is respiratory, more DS>PL>like
    the flu than polio.
What you say is almost true. The Coronavirus vacination is more
    like a
two and done. There are reports of a member of Congress who was >DS>recently vacinated but then tested positive after being in close >DS>quarters with other members who refused to wear a mask.

I think you're making reference to the 2-part vaccine by one of the
companies, but thats not what I'm talking about... Yes, I understand your point - that the vaccine that requires 2 shots means you are still susceptible until you receive [And probably some amount of time after that 2nd dose.] both parts...

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have a 94%-95% effectiveness
rate. That means some 5%-6% of all those who are vaccinated will not
be immune. Still a helluva better than not having been vaccinated
at all, if enough folks get vaccinated, especially if enough are
vaccinated so that herd immunity threshhold is reached.

But I'm speaking of the fact that a Covid vaccine doesn't last a lifetime,
not even several years - no one KNOWS exactly, but its FAIRLY safe to say
it will last somewhere around a year. That being said, once we vaccinate
our entire country, it seems like Covid will be more like the influenza FLU and come back every year - Americans will need to be vaccinated against it [around] once a year.

And you know this how? Please tell, Mr Expert. Nobody else seems
to know. Not even Dr Fauci or Dr Birx or any of those other medical professionals with multiple PhD's. After all, this is a novel
coronavirus. Nobody in the entire world has any immunity. So how

    I'm confused.

    As are we all.

As this is what me and my colleagues are talking about daily.

With 400,000+ dead in this country alone due to the novel coronavirus,
you bet it is. None of us has any idea as to how many more will die, or
even if there will be an end to this. I do hope, and pray, this is not
    an ELE.

While yer right that no one KNOWS how long a vaccine will last,

All that is known are the results of clinical trials. And even that
is very limited. A vaccine is not a cure, but a tool. One of the tools
we need in order to protect ourselves and overcome this pandemic.

it certainly.. almost laughably, if you're insinuating that its a polio-type
lifetime lasting vaccine, isn't much longer than a year.

We do not even know if immunity will last that long. And not everybody
who has been vaccinated will become immune. The effectiveness rate is
high, at 94%-95%. But that still leaves 5% or 6% who remain at risk.

    Sure we don't know -

It does help your chances of survival to get yourself vaccinated.

but we shouldn't be mental midgets and think that this round of vaccinations
is the end all cure all.

It takes a few weeks longer for the vaccine to take effect.
But first you have to get the vaccine (both doses).

Guys. Goodbrain told everyone who would listen to him NOT to vote by mail... so they didn't. What's the mystery here?

Because Trump was leading in every battleground state that there was right
up to midnight and then something happened in the early hours didn't it....

Fox News came out of the gate in the early hours on election night as they
told us all that were watching the election results would like different this time around. They made it sound like all the Democrats were voting by mail and voting early and then the Republicans would be voting later as they would
    be going to the polls.

I still don't know what the problem was with voting at the polls because 30 million go to Wal*Mart every day of the week.

What happened is that they starteded counting the mail-in ballots that were arriving. The mail-in ballots that Goodbrain told his supporters NOT to use. So, you know... they didn't, and Biden supporters did. I'm almost sure you can see how, since his supporters didn't vote by mail-in ballot because he said not to, that there wern't that many mail-in ballots in there for our last president.... and the majority of ones that were in there were for Biden.

    It's not a mystery.

Oh... and Trump actually got 594,117 mail-in votes.

... That's just incredible! As in... it's just not credible.

Because Trump was leading in every battleground state that there was

There is a very logical reason for that happening. Trump denigrated
mail in voting (even though he used it himself) and his Republican
followers believed him and thus voted in person (risking exposure to
Covid-19). Many Democrats and Independents did not believe a word that
Trump uttered, and so took the safe route of voting by mail or by drop
box. Since those votes were counted last, it was no surprise to anyone
with any sense that the early votes leaned towards Trump and that the
later votes were at least 75% for Biden. Trump uses that fact to claim
voter fraud, even though it is clear that it was a direct result of his retoric.

Are we talking about Pennsylvania changing their mail-in voting rules? Cool:

In October 2019, the Republican-led Pennsylvania General Assembly passed an election law, Act 77, that added no-excuse voting by mail, a provision pushed by Democrats. The act says that any qualified elector who is not eligible to be an absentee elector can get a mail-in ballot. Republicans got one of their priorities included too: elimination of straight-ticket voting. The bill drew supporters from both parties, but it had more support from Republicans.

“It was always touted as a bipartisan effort to get ready for 2020, pre-pandemic, bring Pennsylvania in line with Florida and Ohio and a bunch of states that had the no excuse system,†said Edward B. Foley, an Ohio State University constitutional law professor who specializes in elections.

Act 77 required constitutional challenges be brought within 180 days, but that didn’t happen. After Trump lost the Nov. 3 election, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and co-plaintiffs filed a case against state officials arguing that the mail-in ballot provisions in Act 77 were a violation. Kelly asked the court to prohibit the certification of results that included mail-in ballots or direct the Pennsylvania General Assembly to choose electors.

One week later, the state Supreme Court dismissed the petition as untimely, writing that the plaintiffs filed their case more than a year after Act 77 was enacted and after millions of residents had already voted in the primary and general elections. The case was filed as the final ballots “were being tallied, with the results becoming seemingly apparent,†the court wrote. The court’s three-page order did not address whether Act 77 and the state constitution were in conflict.

“It is not our role to lend legitimacy to such transparent and untimely efforts to subvert the will of Pennsylvania voters,†Justice David Wecht, a Democrat, wrote.

Chief Justice Thomas Saylor, a Republican, wrote that throwing out votes at this point was extreme and untenable: “There has been too much good-faith reliance, by the electorate, on the no-excuse mail-in voting regime created by Act 77.â€

After losing, Kelly took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, where an emergency application for injunctive relief was denied by Justice Samuel Alito Dec. 8. Kelly is still seeking review by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania’s Republican senator, said many Pennsylvania lawmakers believe the law is constitutional.

“Clearly the state legislature and governor believe it is consistent with the state constitution,†Toomey said. “This law wasn’t challenged when it was passed, it wasn’t challenged when it was applied during the June primary election. It was only challenged after President Trump lost the general election.â€

Also if you confront any of the people that proclaim "Trump is a racist" with evidence to the contrary then its just because he had pictures with some famous black people doesnt mean he is not racist and you tell them multiple racist things Biden has done its that was in the past people can change. I have yet to have any of them tell me a single thing Trump has said or done that shows he is racist. I also understand that in person attendance at the Super Bowl was limited but how is it then when Biden gave his speech everyone booed. Out of 80 million people that allegedly voted for him not 1 was at the superbowl?

Biden became a Senator in 1972. The Civil Rights act was 1964. Biden was only 22 and just out of law schol at the time. So, this is false.

In 1977 he did not hold any office, but he did make the "Racial jungle" statement. It does not, however, refer to actual jungles. He thought that manditory busing would be chaotic. He said without orderly integration, his children would "grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle".

Biden became a Senator in 1972. The Civil Rights act was 1964. Biden was only 22 and just out of law schol at the time. So, this is false.

Joe Biden sided with segregationists who wanted to keep black students
out of white classrooms. He supported bussing. He even put Kamala on a
bus to some black school several miles away from her home because he "didn't want his kids going to school in a racial jungle." But Kamala
is more into money and power than she is into holding a grudge.

his children would "grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle".

That's not even how he said it. Did you see the video?

Yes. And I provided a direct quote that you selectively edited. You seem to do that a lot. You cherry-pick of a conversation and try to use it to bolster your flaccid argument. That is unethical and intellectually dishonest. I don't debate intellectually dishoest or unethical people. I mock them.

... That's just incredible! As in... it's just not credible.

Joe Biden voted for segregation when he was senator. Is that racist?

No, that was something else all together.

Not racist, but simply just a way to keep blacks out of white
    classrooms.

Once again, because you seem to not get this part:

In 1977 Biden thought that manditory busing would be chaotic. He said without orderly integration, his children would "grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle".

You keep editing that part by mistake, I assume. Hope this helps.

    Hello Greg,

Just what are you talking about? When and how did Democrats
    change
ballot procedures to guarantee a Biden win? Was it by making
sure th Va> DS> people could vote?

Because Trump was leading in every battleground state that there was right
up to midnight and then something happened in the early hours didn't it....

And to think it was all your fault.
    Shame on you.
Celebrating too early can do that to a guy.
Gives them a false sense of security.
They go to bed, and sleep tight.
Then wake up in the morning to a nightmare come true.

Yes, my friend. It really was your fault.
Your own fault, and nobody else's.
    Remember that.
Donald J. Trump lost all because of you.
NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo thanks you.

Fox News came out of the gate in the early hours on election night as they >told us all that were watching the election results would like different
    this
time around. They made it sound like all the Democrats were voting by mail
and voting early and then the Republicans would be voting later as they
    would
    be going to the polls.

The more options the better. That is what I call pro-democracy.
Limiting options is anti-democratic, and only enjoyed by autocrats.

I still don't know what the problem was with voting at the polls because 30
million go to Wal*Mart every day of the week.

Building more Wal*Marts could ease the problem. I mean, look at
what Wal*Mart is doing with the coronavirus vaccine. I think it would
be a really good service for Wal*Mart to have an option to allow
early voting. And drop boxes in their parking lots.

You might to consider using your "REAL NAME" here in fidonet land. and clean
up the message and learn not to capture every blessed line.

Why should folks be required to use their "REAL NAME" in fidonet land?
Folks should be free to express themselves any way they want, even if
their way is not the same as whatever happens to be your way.

It's messy as it is "vague" not tidy and unclean.

    His/her/its choice.

Let us know when you'd like to see evidence of Biden being racist.
That's something I've linked to in here about a dozen times already.

Yes, I've seen your links but I don't see Biden as a racist.

I do not believe Joe Biden has a racist bone in his body.
However, I will say that every person on this planet is a
racist and a bigot. In a manner of speaking. What we do
to overcome our own racism and bigotry is up to us, both
as individuals and as a society.

Donald Trump is a racist, clearly, and more.

He did appeal to the darker nature of our souls.
Hopefully only to some of us.

Yes, I've seen your links but I don't see Biden as a racist.
Donald Trump is a racist, clearly, and more.

Everyone is a racist of some sort, but not everyone leaves so much evidence
of it that you can see it from space. Joe Biden voted for segregation when
he was senator. Is that racist?

Joe Biden was elected to the US Senate when he was 29 years old.
Still too young to hold office. Please explain how he managed to
vote for segregation before even graduating from college or law
    school.

Then he said "I don't want my kids going to school in a racial jungle."
There are a lot of kids in the USA with parents from "the jungles" of the world. Cost Rica is mostly jungle. Should Costa Rican immigrants feel good about sending their kids to school with Biden's kids?

Governor Mike Foster of Louisiana made a remark to his black opponent
in the election that black folks live in what he called a "jungle" by
their own choice. Well, over a third of the voters in the state are
black. And they did not take too kindly by the governor's choice of
words. However, Joe Biden has never made that claim about anybody
in Louisiana. That is the difference between a white guy who owned
a plantation home (Mike Foster) whose grandfather had slaves as his
loyal subjects (Foster's grandfather owned a plantation and was also
a governor of Louisiana), with another white guy (Joe Biden) who never
owned a plantation or anybody of any color in his entire life.

That's not how he said it - you're editing Biden's quote. Calling a diverse classroom a "racial jungle" is "racist."

There's no taking back Joe's racist comment. Only a highly skilled
word-twister like Brooke Baldwin could pull that off, but she's not touching that subject because it's time for Trump-talk.

CNN is hilarious. They don't say anything about the FBI investigation or the
NY assembly impeachment probe, but instead they write about "Cuomo signs a new bill to protect nursing home residents."

They refuse to reflect shame on the King of NY, and that's a shame.

One day, all the liberals are gonna crap themselves when they read "Cuomo impeached!" in the headlines. They never saw it coming because their handlers at CNN trained them into thinking that "Cuomo helped nursing home residents."

Meanwhile, the evil Fox news has kept conservatives up to date since day 1.
